You try to save light, but you do it wrong; these mistakes you make in summer

Save on the electricity bill it is a goal for many families each month. There are many household appliances that can cause the cost to skyrocket if we misuse them. In addition, at certain times it may be even more important to take certain measures. For this reason, in this article we are going to talk about some mistakes that you make in summer, thinking that you save energy, and they make your electricity bills increase.

Sometimes just making a few small changes can make big savings. You can see that electricity consumption goes down if you regulate the temperature, change the mode of some appliances or use LED bulbs. But sometimes, all this must be adapted to the time of year.

Mistakes when saving light in summer

Any time of the year is good for save energy. However, the greatest expense usually appears when we have more extreme temperatures. This happens in winter, when we have to turn on the heating or put up stoves, but also in summer, when we use the air conditioning.

Turn off the air when you don’t touch

A common mistake is turn off the air conditioning to, not long after, turn it back on. We may think that we are saving energy. In fact, it is clear that any device turned off will not waste electricity. But of course, if we turn it on later then a rebound effect can occur and be worse.

What is happening? We have had the air on for a while, it has managed to lower the temperature and we decided to turn it off. That room is going to start to get hot. When we turn it on again, the air will have to recover the lost temperature. It’s going to put the compressor back to full speed and that’s going to cause us to waste electricity. Therefore, think carefully about whether or not it compensates you to turn off the air depending on how long it will be.

keep the thermostat the same

Another failure is to keep the thermostat at the same temperature as in winter. It is a mistake, since the conditions here change. Maybe in winter you have it set at 19 or 20 degrees, but outside the house it will be very cold. On the other hand, in summer it is very hot and we really must put it at a higher temperature.

Ideally, do not put the air conditioning at less than 24 or 25 degrees in summer, if you want to save as much electricity as possible. Therefore, you cannot keep it at the same temperature as you would in months like December or January. You must adapt it to the time you are in and thus be able to save.

Leave the fridge temperature

Something similar happens with the fridge temperature. You think you save light by setting it at 6 degrees, for example, but really in summer you should always lower it 1 degree. The reason? As it is hotter outside, every time you open the door hot air will enter, which can affect the food you have stored.

The fridge is going to have to work harder to bring the temperature down again. That is why it is not advisable to open the door a lot. Our advice is that if, for example, in winter you have the refrigerator set at 6 degrees, in summer you lower it to 5 degrees. That will help you save depending on the time of year, but also keep food well.

In short, as you can see, these are some mistakes that you may be making in summer to save electricity. If you use home automation, it’s a good idea to analyze the Wi-Fi network and get it working properly. That will help you to have a connection anywhere and not have problems.
