Microsoft tries, in every possible way, to get Windows users to also buy its products: Game Pass, Microsoft 365, etc. For this reason, both the programs of Windows itself and its installation wizard are full of advertisements and messages that talk about these services, and they have links to go buy them. When we see them we can ignore them and nothing happens, we can continue using the PC normally, but what happens if it doesn’t let us skip these ads?
For some time now, when we are going to install Windows 10 from scratch, Microsoft recommends us buy a subscription to Microsoft 365 so you can start using Office, as well as being able to start using OneDrive cloud storage. When we see this message, Microsoft gives us two options: the first one, pay for the subscription, and the second one, skip the step and continue with the installation.
However, if we have downloaded the ISO image of Windows 10 22H2, we will find an error that can be very expensive.
The “No” button leads us to checkout
This seemingly unintentional bug causes the two buttons that appear on the Microsoft 365 purchase screen to be switched. This means that, if we click on the “Yes” button, to proceed with the purchase, we can continue without going through the checkout. But, if we click on the “No” button, which is what more than 99% of users do, it takes us to the purchase window where we enter the bank details.
Microsoft it will ask us for a PayPal account, a bank card, or other information to be able to proceed with the payment. The first month, as it indicates, will be free, but from then on we will be charged the cost of the service automatically, and it will not be cheap, since the family subscription is 99 euros per year.
Microsoft has ensured that it will fix this problem soon via a cumulative update, although it will have to upload new ISO images for users who download the image again.
Cheaper Microsoft 365
Although we don’t like that Microsoft tries to sneak its subscription into us in every possible way, we cannot deny that it is a good service. Thanks to it, we can have access to all Office programs, as well as 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage, calling minutes for Skype, and much more.
But 99 euros a year is a lot of money. Luckily, we can buy this subscription for much less. At Amazon, both subscriptions are usually reduced by 20%, which allows us to save, and a lot, when buying this type of service.
But, also, if we know how to find the right moment, it is possible get Microsoft 365 for less than half. The family subscription, of 99 euros, we can find it for 45 euros, and even less. And what’s more, we can share it with 5 other people in the family to save even more on the price of Office and give each one 1 TB of OneDrive storage to save what they want.
