5 post-apocalyptic series if you are hooked on The Last of Us (HBO Max)

The premiere of The Last of Us Last week he made one thing clear to us: that HBO Max has a new gem on its hands with which to be the center of attention and conversation for several months. Since it broadcasts its episodes one by one (every Monday), it makes sure to extend the phenomenon much more, keeping the public hooked for longer. If you are one of them and the other 6 days left you wanting more, today we are going to propose you 5 great post-apocalyptic series, so that you continue in line with the naughty dogs story. Take note.

This Danish series is not very well known despite having been on Netflix for quite some time. In the rain We are presented with a dystopian future in which a lethal virus that spreads through the rain has wiped out practically the entire population of Scandinavia. Six years after that initial outbreak, two brothers leave the bunker in which their parents protected them to look for other survivors, finding a “new world” in which there are no laws and everything has started again.

It received quite good reviews and has 3 seasons with a total of 20 episodes.

Well, this is possibly the quintessential post-apocalyptic series. The world of the walking dead He made the leap from comics to TV in 2021 and has spent no less than 12 years hooking millions of fans around the world. His outburst couldn’t be more powerful: a policeman is shot while on duty and wakes up some time later from a coma in his city hospital. What he did not expect is that when doing so he finds himself with a completely abandoned building and a new world full of zombies that have taken control of everything.

It has 12 long seasons.

This little gem arrived shortly after our pandemic, removing more than one with his story. In it, a devastating flu practically wipes out humanity and only those who manage to remain isolated and without contact manage to survive it. Years after such an outbreak, the world tries to rebuild itself again, creating a new society in which everything is very primitive again and in which new dynamics are also established. It is based on a novel of the same name written by Emily St. John Mandel.

In miniseries format, it only has 10 episodes.

One of the best things about this series is undoubtedly its fantastic production and the landscapes with which it delights us. Even so, some have crossed out See to be somewhat irregular (it’s a matter of taste), so it’s best that you give it a chance and judge for yourself what you think of this dystopian future in which all of humanity has lost its sight due to a virus. Centuries later, we meet Jason Momoa, leader of a tribe and father of twins who are inexplicably able to see.

We are dead

We close the list with this somewhat crazier and different series. In it, a group of students are trapped in a Institute which has become ground zero for a zombie outbreak. It is a South Korean series and is based on a comic. A different way of consuming apocalyptic scenarios and zombies, there is no doubt.

We have told you on more than one occasion about this series based on a graphic novel of the same name and that the famous filmmaker Bong Joon-Ho also made a movie. In it, the planet Earth has frozen and only the passengers of a train that moves at high speed are the survivors. Within this means of transport have been established lessonsso that the wealthiest live in luxury while the least disadvantaged sleep crowded into the last wagons.

It consists of three seasons, with 10 chapters each. There is a fourth that has not yet been broadcast on TNT (nor will it), but we hope it will reach Netflix since it was shot. Even so, there is no official confirmation about it, so we have preferred to leave it as an “extra”. Warned you stay so you don’t get too hooked.
