50 hours of battery and minimum latency: this is the Trust GXT 980 REDEX

One of the peculiarities of this mouse is that Trust has built it using kailh switches (yes, the same brand known for mechanical keyboard switches), which are claimed by the manufacturer to have a durability greater than 80 million clicks; If we take as an example that on average in a League of Legends game about 8,000 clicks are made, we are talking about about 10,000 games. With the use of a normal user who uses the PC to play, the average is 10,000 clicks per day (that is if you play a lot every day), so the durability could be more than 20 years.

We are, as you can see by looking at the table of technical specifications that we have placed above this paragraph, before a wireless mouse with the usual 2.4 GHz radio frequency technology, very reliable and that avoids interference with other wireless devices. The mouse mounts a PixArt sensor, something that in itself gives us a guarantee of quality, and more specifically the PMW3325 model that is capable of providing up to 10,000 DPI maximum sensitivity with 20 G acceleration and 100 IPS capture speed.

The Trust GXT 980 REDEX has a very interesting peculiarity, and that is that in addition to supporting up to 1,000 Hz of polling frequencythis is configurable between 125 Hz and 1,000 Hz by means of a physical switch on the mouse itself, so that it will allow us to have a minimum latency for when we are playing, but for when we are not we can easily lower it to save battery and improve the autonomy of the device.

Speaking of autonomy, one of the strengths of this gaming mouse is that, according to the manufacturer, it provides up to 50 hours of autonomy with a single charge. Of course, we must bear in mind that the data provided by the manufacturer is always in optimal conditions (lighting off, and in this case surely with the polling frequency at a minimum), but even so we are talking about a fairly decent autonomy. The mouse logically supports charging while playing, so if it starts to complain about low battery we can connect the charging cable (which is USB-C on the mouse side) and continue to use it without any problem.

Trust GXT 980

Another peculiarity of this mouse is that, as we have indicated in the introduction, Trust has relied (forgive the redundancy) on the manufacturer Kailh for the switches (they do not indicate that they are only the two main buttons, so we assume that at least 5 of the 6 (all except the mouse wheel, whose button is usually different) buttons are made by this. These buttons have up to 80 million clicks of life expectancy, so we will have a mouse for a long, long time.

On the other hand, in terms of design we can see that the Trust GXT 980 REDEX is quite conventional, with a symmetrical and rounded design but that it is designed for right-handed users for the simple fact that it only has side buttons on the left side, where the right-handed users place their thumb, while the right side lacks any buttons.

Speaking of buttons, the six buttons on this mouse are configurable through software, and in fact, we can also configure the lighting of the mouse through the software (in the scroll wheel and in the lower area of the back, where we place the palm ) with the 16.8 million colors of the RGB spectrum. Likewise, it also supports configuration and assignment of macros, so we can have complete control of the mouse functions in a simple way: what is more, the mouse integrates memory, so we can save its configuration in the mouse itself. so that we retain our settings even if we connect it to another PC where we don’t have the software installed.

Trust REDEX

To finish talking about the specifications of this mouse, we have to mention its connectivity. Trust includes a USB dongle so you can use it wirelessly on any PC, and this also means that the GXT 980 REDEX will work with any other device that natively supports mouse use, including Windows, Linux and Mac systems but also others like Android and even some televisions or consoles. Communication is by radio frequency at 2.4 GHz, a technology of proven reliability and that gives us up to 10 meters of maximum range; However, as we have already mentioned before, we can also use the mouse with the included USB cable to be able to charge the battery and play at the same time.

Price and availability

In this case, Trust has not yet announced the availability of the GXT 980 REDEX in Spain (or rather its press agency has not yet sent any press release about it), although it is true that it is already listed on its website and in fact we can already buy it in stores like Amazon, where right now it does not have any promotion and it is at its recommended sale price: €39.99.

As you can see, 40 Euros for a wireless mouse of very good quality and theoretical performance means continuing with the premise that we have always had from this manufacturer, where the quality / performance / price ratio prevails over everything else; However, as we mentioned at the beginning, Trust is trying to make its products known for their performance and quality, and as we have seen in the characteristics of this mouse, there are two things that this product will not lack.
