PlayStation 5 updates: a new update is available

Sony has made the new one available PlayStation 5 system software update.

PS5 User Experience Optimizations

The September update for PS5 includes new user experience enhancements that make it easier than ever before to view, customize and manage your game content and console experience:

  • Control Center Customization. Players can now customize their Control Center more freely by rearranging or choosing which controls to hide or show at the bottom of the screen.
  • Improved Game Base. Players can now easily view and write messages to friends and parties directly from the Game Base in the Control Center.

With the full-screen Game Base, players can also see how many friends are online, busy or offline, and can accept, decline or cancel multiple friend requests at the same time.

  • Game Library and Home Screen updates. If you have installed the PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game, they will appear separately on the ‘Installed’ tab of the Game Library and on the Home Screen. Additionally, each game’s tile now clearly indicates its platform.
  • Screen Reader Controls. Players can now pause or resume the Screen Reader (by pressing the “PS + Triangle” buttons) and have any read content repeat (by pressing the “PS + R1” buttons).

New customizations for the social and gaming experience

PlayStation Now subscribers can choose between 720p or 1080p (depending on the individual game) to tailor the video resolution of the game stream to their needs. The September update for PS5 allows gamers to experience 3D audio through the built-in TV speakers.
