This incredible emulator lets you play retro games in VR in your teenage room

EmuVR is certainly one of the most promising emulators of the decade. The latter indeed offers to immerse its users in a bedroom from the 90s to play games from that era directly. All on an old cathode-ray TV, magazines and posters as decoration. Guaranteed nostalgia.

As the Christmas holidays have just ended, you may have had the opportunity to visit your parents and sleep in your old child’s room. You may have found old players, old accessories and, who knows, your very first consoles there. Over time, these may no longer work. What if we told you that you could play these consoles again, in your child’s room, entirely in VR?

This is the crazy but yet very real project of EmuVR, an emulator of a whole new kind. In its presentation video, we discover an emulator entirely in virtual reality which allows, like any other, to play a multitude of retro games. The twist, and not the least, and that everything takes place in a room straight out of the 1990s. We don’t do better to go back in time.

By putting on your virtual reality headset, you find yourself in the middle of this room which offers a whole bunch of consoles – fulfilling the dream of your 10-year-old “me” – which run all the best games of the time. . Turn your head, and you will see another cathode-ray TV broadcasting a cartoon thanks to a streaming feature, or even a poster of your favorite celebrity.

Because everything in EmuVR is customizable as desired. It is therefore possible, in theory, to completely recreate your room, the consoles in addition. Best of all, the emulator supports split-screen multiplayer, so you can invite your friends over, just like on those wild afternoons on Street Fighter. In short, it is a real return to the past that the emulator offers.

For now, the latter is still in beta phase, so it is possible that some features will not be available when it is officially launched. Still, EmuVR is one of those projects to watch very closely in the coming months.
