Of course, the popularity of the game will attract players hungry for records and glitches. In particular the speedrunners, these gamers whose goal is to finish a game as quickly as possible. As proof, the expeditious parts of Breath of the Wild, the predecessor of Tears of the Kingdom, abound on YouTube. The speed record on this episode is very slightly lower than 24 minutes. Its author is Player5. And it dates from January 2023. Tears of the Kingdom should therefore also be the subject of such records.

Tears of the Kingdom’s first speedrun dropped: 94 minutes

As proof, a first speedrun was recorded, less than 24 hours after the official release of the game. This feat is signed MrGymnast6. He managed to finish the game 94 minutes and 33 seconds very exactly. Of course, the game is not 100% finished. Far from it. You can find below two videos posted by the author of this speedrun. Warning, these videos still contain some spoilers, we prefer to warn you. The first is simply the speedrun as a whole, with no cuts or commentary.

The second is a much shorter video of 7 minutes and 35 seconds. It is commented by the player, with the main tricks he used. He explains there which are the weapons and the materials which he used. He details his strategy of merging weapons and fighting against the various bosses, making excessive use of explosive, freezing and electric arrows. And he confirms that the majority of Breath of the Wild’s programming flaws have been ironed out. This record will be broken very quickly, because the speedrun was not the most optimized.
