ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 X3D, at the peak of performance

With the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 X3D, the Taiwanese brand sIt has been placed in the highest position in the performance tableor in the laptop market, and it is that this equipment can, in reality, compete not only with the rest of systems of this type, it can also successfully stand up to a large number of desktops and towers, which it simply devours with its technical specifications. Thus, we are not talking about a laptop for everyone, but rather an unbeatable proposal, at least today, for those users who need maximum performance in a portable computer.

To this end, the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 X3D relies mainly on two key components that we will talk about a little later, its AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D CPU and his GeForce RTX 4090 graphics adapter which, together with its thermal management system, is capable of scaling up to 175 watts, for which a particularly advanced cooling system is mounted.

It is important to note, yes, that we are talking about a team of considerable size and weight, with a 17.3-inch screen. Thus, we are not talking about a particularly light solution but, on the contrary, we are facing an absolutely ideal team for content creators, gamers and, in general, people who need a great processing capacity in a system that can accompany them wherever they go.

As I indicated before, the first thing we see of this ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 X3D is its generous 17.3-inch IPS screen with WQHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 dots with a 16:9 aspect resolution) and that is capable of scaling up to 240 hertzwith a response time of only 3 milliseconds. It covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space and supports Dolby Vision HDR, as well as NVIDIA G-Sync and MUX Switch + NVIDIA Advanced Optimus technologies. To improve the user experience, it has an anti-reflective treatment.

Inside it we see, as the leak from a few days ago already told us, that this is the first team to mount the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, a version of the Ryzen 9 7945HX, which was already crowned at the time as the fastest integrated for laptops, but which in this version also becomes the first package for laptops that uses cache stacking technology, which which allows it to have 128 megabytes of L3 cache. This processor has 16 cores for 32 threads and is capable of scaling up to 5.4 gigahertz.

ASUS did not want to fall short in the graphics section either, so together with the fastest CPU on the market, we find ourselves with the fastest GPU on the market, a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Mobile with 16 gigabytes of memory dedicated GDDR6. At this point it is very important to take into account that, to get the most out of it, the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 X3D mounts a very advanced thermal management system that uses a vapor chamber, a set of 4 fans, liquid metal to improve the conductivity and another set of advanced technologies. Thanks to it, this RTX 4090 is capable of scaling up to a TGP of 175 watts.

In its base configuration, this ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 X3D mounts 32 gigabytes of DDR5-4800 RAM but, in case the user needs more memory, it is possible to replace the two modules included in the equipment with two 32GB SO-DIMMs, which will allow us to have 64 gigabytes of DDR5 RAM. For storage we also have a considerable capacity and great performance, thanks to the two terabyte PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2.

The review of its connectivity section shows us that in this regard it does not fall short at all. In the wireless section, it has Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3while a review of its ports shows us two USB 3.2 type with DisplayPort / NVIDIA G-SYNC support and one of them with power delivery, two USB 3.2 type A ports, an HDMI 2.1 connector, a 2 wired network port, 5G and an audio minijack.

For its power, ASUS has opted for a battery of 90 watt hours that, with its fast charging support, you can get a 50% charge in just 30 minutes, something key for a device of these features.

Although the ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 17 X3D has already been officially presented, it has not yet gone on sale, so we do not know what its price will be. However, in the same leak that revealed the existence of the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, we saw that a unit with a terabyte of storage It was listed for 5,599 Australian dollars, about 3,407 euros to change. However, it is possible that it was a fictitious price, introduced to register the equipment in the system, so it is possible that some change will take place when it arrives on the market.
