If some Huawei fans were impatiently awaiting the arrival of the new Mate 60 Pro, be aware that you may finally have to turn to another smartphone, since it will not be launched in France.
A few days ago, Huawei quietly launched its new high-end smartphone, the Mate 60 Pro. The latter had made a lot of talk about him since he was the first device to support calls and other communications via satelliteunlike Apple, which only makes emergency calls on its iPhones.
Even better, the Mate 60 Pro also marked the return of 5G on Chinese manufacturer smartphones. Indeed, the latter this time used a modem from a local manufacturer, thus avoiding the sanctions imposed by the American government in 2019. Although it is obviously a small revolution in the Huawei catalog, bad news is already on the horizon.
No launch in France for the Huawei Mate 60 Pro
While we could expect the Huawei Mate 60 Pro to be launched in France, Huawei itself confirmed the bad news to our colleagues at Android Authority: the smartphone will not leave China. However, Huawei did not hesitate to launch the previous generation with us, the Huawei Mate 50, which we were able to test on video.
The reasons for this decision are not known, but several factors could be involved. It is possible that Huawei wanted to avoid legal hassles by not offering a 5G smartphone outside of China, although this one uses a Chinese modem. One can also imagine that its satellite communication functionality would not have been so easily available in other parts of the globe, which might have disappointed users who were planning to buy it. Huawei may also have wanted to avoid bad sales, since we know that the smartphone is much less powerful than the competition, but also still devoid of Google services.
This is obviously only speculation here, and we will have to wait for an official statement to be sure. Anyway, the Chinese manufacturer is not yet finished with its series of Mate 60 smartphones, since we already know that it is preparing the arrival of 3 other devices, including a special edition RS Porsche Design. The manufacturer has been collaborating with the famous German car manufacturer for several years now, but the European market will not be entitled to this premium version either. You will therefore have to turn to imports if you really want to try these new Mate 60s.
