Better protect your Apple account thanks to this function

If you want to better protect access to your Apple ID, in this post we present a very useful function with which you will increase security. In this way, only you will have the control when accessing your account and your personal data. So if you want to know how you can do it, here we explain it to you.

Your account and your data, now more protected

The best way to protect any account is by using two-step verification. And Apple also uses this system. However, the differential point is in how are we going to verify our identity, in that second confirmation step. Since, in addition to using our own device as a verifier, it also makes use of other Apple products that we have.

A very common case is if we have an iPhone and a Mac. If we have two-step verification activated, and we want to log in on the iPhone, we will be asked to check on the Mac. And vice versa. So, once again, Feedback between Apple devices is clear. And it is that, even in the field of security, these teams also connect with each other.

How two-factor identification is activated

There are several ways to activate two-step verification. And even if we only have an Apple device, this will work just the same. However, as we have said before, if we have two devices with the same ID activated, the experience of verifying our identity will become much easier.

The first way we have to activate the identification in two steps is through the iPhone. For this we will go to Settings > Apple ID (our name) and we will have to click on the Password and security option. Once we are in there, we will have to look for the Two-factor authentication option. To activate it, we have to click on that option and follow the instructions that appear. Once the option is activated, the Activated message will appear.

From the Apple website, it is also possible to activate this authentication. Here we will have to enter this web page, and we will log in with our ID. If we are asked to answer security questions, we answer them. Next we have to go to the Update account security section. Within this menu we will have to look for the Two-factor Authentication option and follow the instructions that are requested.

In the case of Apple, to double confirm our identity, we are sent a six digit numeric code that we will have to enter when prompted. If we only have one device, this code will be sent to us by SMS or by email. However, if we have more than one device with the same Apple ID, this six-digit code will be sent to the other device, which the Apple account detects is turned on and connected to the Internet. Therefore, we will use another device to log in with our account.
