There is movement in the internet browser market. Unsurprisingly, the first remains the same, namely Chrome with no less than a third of users worldwide. Second place, on the other hand, goes again to Safari, which thus passes in front of Edge, which stole its silver medal a few months ago.
Google Chrome has simply been unbeatable in the Internet browser market for many years. The latter is still far ahead of the competition, which can only fight for the crumbs left by the giant, and therefore, second place. However, this is precisely what has just happened in recent months. If Chrome has no worries for its first place, Edge, for its part, demotes to third place.
Indeed, Safari has finally recovered its silver medal, a few months after bequeathing it to its rival at Microsoft. The Apple browser now accounts for 11.87% market share, far behind the behemoth of Google which, for its part, monopolizes no less than a third of Internet users in the world. An ultimately unsurprising result, Edge having encountered some difficulty in convincing new users lately.
Safari becomes the second most used browser in the world
Here is the ranking of web browsers for the month of March 2023, according to data from Statcounter:
- Google Chrome: 66.13%
- Safari: 11.87%
- Microsoft Edge: 11%
- Firefox: 5.65%
- Opera: 3.09%
- Internet Explorer: 0.55%

Unsurprisingly, Google continues to dominate without much difficulty with its 66.13% market share. Edge is now just behind Safari, followed by Firefox which is visibly struggling to regain its former glory. In addition, Safari’s market share has increased by 2% in the past month.
More surprisingly, Internet Explorer remains in the race, even though Microsoft officially recorded its death last February. If you are one of the last remaining users, we can only advise you to switch to its spiritual successor, which is much faster and more secure.
