Computer

Computer or console, what is really more expensive?

It is no secret that consoles have always cost less in apparent price than computers, however, that is partly a myth that has been perpetuated over time, especially today. That is why we are going to explain to you the reason why a PC is not more expensive than a video game system and why you should opt for the first. Why isn’t a computer more expensive than a console?

Today, if we ignore the Nintendo console, both Xbox and PlayStation have products on the market whose components are derived from the PC. Let’s not forget that both consoles use a chip with an AMD Ryzen processor and an integrated Radeon graphics card from the same brand. So it can be said that the computer in that aspect has beaten the consoles. However, consoles for their apparent price are often seen as the ideal gaming system for the masses. However, this is not the case and between the computer and the console there are things that are usually ignored.

PC and console compete for your time when playing

Let’s situate ourselves in today’s world, in the middle of 2022, the world has been digitized and we all need a computer yes or yes, not only to play, but also to surf the internet, do office tasks, design things, edit our videos, stream by Internet. A good part of the work on a day-to-day basis is going to be done on a computer. Of course, unless you are an itinerant person and, therefore, travel all over the world, at home you will have a desktop PC and this is where the false myth between PC and console begins.

RTX 4090 Xbox PS5 Computer Console

If you are a console user, it is most likely that have a computer at home with a graphics card that is not powerful enough to move your favorite games. It is completely normal that in periods where the PC is outdated we make the leap to a video game console, but this in 90% of cases is due to the GPU and not due to other elements. Unless, of course, our system is very old.

And let’s not be impressed by the prices of the latest NVIDIA cards, for example, for less than what a PlayStation 5 officially coststoday we can get a graphics card capable of moving current games with ease. The point is that whether you like it or not, a PC is more useful and if it is well equipped, it turns consoles into a collector of dust.

Why is a computer cheaper than a console?

Of course, that is not the only argument to support buying a computer instead of a console, but there are many more, for example:

  • on a PC you don’t have to pay a monthly fee to play onlinewhich on consoles is nothing more than a hidden fee to hide the real price of the consoles.
  • You have a thousand and one ways to communicate with friends to play games and not the limited options that are on dedicated systems.
  • You may install mods in games to increase the gaming experience or adapt it to your setup.
  • Virtual reality is not a toyHey, you have a much higher catalog of titles than the only option on console, which has been a failure. We’ll see how SONY does with PS VR 2.
  • As usual, games are much cheaper on PC due to the fact that they do not include the additional royalty in their price.
  • With the new SONY and Microsoft policies, what are the exclusives on their respective consoles come out soon on PC.
  • You can play classic or discontinued systems with emulators.

There are many more reasons than those put forward, but these are the same important ones for us. And what are yours?
