As you may know, the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra will be officially available on the market from February 17, 2023. Despite everything, those who have decided to give in to the pre-order sirens have already received their copy.

And unfortunately for them, the experience is a bit marred by several connection bugs with Android Auto. Indeed, dozens and dozens of testimonials from disgruntled users have appeared on Android Auto’s help forum as well as on Reddit.

Automatic connection to Android Auto is acting up on the S23

In the vast majority, S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra owners fail to automatically connect to Android Auto.I just got a Galaxy S23. It won’t connect to my 2021 Ford Explorer. My Galaxy S20 was connecting immediately. Frustrating”, says a user on the official Google forum.

Hello I have the same problem. The mobile phone (S23 Ultra) does not want to connect to my Volkswagen Golf 8, I tried in debugged USB mode, changed default USB configuration from File Transfer to Android Auto, tried 5 different cables (USB-C to USB -A, original USB-C to USB-C…), none of the combinations want to connect to the car”, says another aggrieved user.

For some, Android Auto detects the S23 as two separate devices

On our side, we actually encountered similar problems connecting to Android Auto with our Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, we were able to easily circumvent the problem by manually connecting to Android Auto via Bluetooth. Besides, and as suggested by other affected users, this is currently the only solution.

Note that this problem is reminiscent of the situation experienced by several users equipped with Pixel 5 in October 2022. At the time, the new Android Auto update introduced a bug that prevented devices equipped with BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) from pair up. For the time being, Samsung like Google have not yet spoken on this subject. Note, however, that the Mountain View firm is currently collecting all reports posted on the Android Auto help forum. It remains to hope for the rapid deployment of a fix in the days to come.
