Since the opening of sales in March 2021, the Dacia Spring, the electric SUV of the Romanian brand, has established itself as a real hit. With 46,000 copies sold so far, the Dacia Spring is well on the way to success. It must be said that the SUV has undeniable arguments, starting with its unbeatable price: from €12,400. With such a proposal, the Dacia Spring is quite simply the cheapest electric car on the European market.

Of course, this needs to be put into perspective. For this price, thehe Dacia Spring makes obvious concessions on autonomy, equipment or safety. Remember that the Spring is actually a derivative of the Renault K-ZE, an SUV launched in China at the end of 2019 and whose career ended in mid-2020 for lack of satisfactory sales.

Another point of size, the Spring is not made in Romania, but in China by Dongfeng company. However, the contract between Renault and the Chinese manufacturer ended in 2019. In other words, the diamond brand is entitled to bring the production of the Dacia Spring back to Europe for the development of a possible new version of the vehicle. This is exactly what the band intends to do.

During Renault’s financial results conference given this Thursday, February 18, 2022, CEO Luca de Meo confirmed thata new Dacia Spring was in preparation and that it will make its debut in 2024. It will not be based on the same platform as the Renault 4L and the Renault 5, namely the CMF-B, but on the technical basis CMF-A. As a reminder, the Dacia Spring established itself in November 2021 as the best-selling electric car in France, just ahead of the Renault Zoé and the Tesla Model 3. The SUV recorded 2,895 registrations over the month, a good performance.
