Dell expands its range of PowerEdge servers and extends its private 5G network agreements

With only a few days left until the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona starts, Dell has already announced the news with which it will attend the event. Among them is the expansion of its range of PowerEdge servers, with a new line of servers with 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors. Also several new agreements with cloud network providers and hardware manufacturers related to private 5G networks.

The new PowerEdge servers are the XR8000, XR7620 and XR5610. They will be available from next May, and their design has been carried out prioritizing modularity and scalability. Also in order to deploy and maintain them is a process free of complications. Even if the environment offers barriers.

The PowerEdge XR5610 server is the most rugged of the three, combining a small form factor (1U) with high tolerance for moisture and dust. In addition, it is compatible with the MIL-STD-810H ruggedization and Level 3 Network Equipment standards.

The slightly larger PowerEdge XR7620 (2U form factor) is designed to offer more power at the edge, especially in industrial use and in the telecommunications sector. It also has built-in networking, and more storage capacity. As for the PowerEdge XR8000, it is based on platforms, and designed to offer high performance in use cases related to Open RAN technology.

As stated by Dell about these new equipment, “XR range servers are developed from scratch for the edge. That’s why we’ve taken size and design restrictions into account, adding ruggedized components and servers with a shallower depth, that fit in cabinets or in MECs located at the base of telecommunications towers. These servers are built to withstand bumps and scratches, vibrations, shocks, dust and dirt, as well as harsh weather and extreme temperatures.”

New agreements on private 5G networks

Dell has also announced the availability of the systems Dell Private Wireless in agreements with the provider of Platform as a Service network Expetoas well as with the manufacturers of mobile network equipment Athonet and Airspan. Dell Private Wireless is built from a diverse ecosystem of partners. It is designed to offer companies and communication service providers more choice in private wireless solutions, so that they can find the one that best suits their needs.

The solutions have been developed jointly with technology partners, and are based on open architectures. They include self-service operations features, and offer solution integration as well as end-to-end management.

In the agreement in which Airspan and Expeto participate, it is focused on a system for large companies for the deployment of private networks. This system will be designed to offer integrated connectivity to support applications in 5G networks, both public and private. Also for 4G networks.

The second agreement, signed solely with Athonet, is focused more on SMEs, and offers a flexible option for the deployment of private 5G networks with flexibility for the company. Thus, you will be able to choose your radio provider, your spectrum band and the network architecture. Dell is responsible for providing pre-testing, integration management and support for these systems.
