Dune: Spice Wars, announced a new Dune themed RTS

During The Game Awards 2021 a new one was announced video game set in the world of Dune coming next year: it’s about Dune: Spice Wars, a real time strategy game with 4X elements.

Let’s find out more about this title that will make fans old and new of Frank Herbert’s narrative universe happy, to whom it seems that the videogame will be more inspired than Denis Villeneuve’s Dune.

Dune: Spice Wars, announced a new Dune themed RTS

Let’s start with the “bad news”: for now, very little has been revealed about this title. Everything we know is contained in the launch trailer, which you can see in the box below.

But here, at least as far as we’re concerned, the bad news ends. The game is developed by Shiro Games who, with Northgard, has shown us to be able to do great things in the field of RTS with 4X elements; will be released by Funcom (Conan Exiles, Mutant Year Zero). Dune: Spice Wars will arrive exactly thirty years after Dune 2, the classic and legendary DOS title that took real-time strategy games to a new level.

Dune: Spice Wars will allow you to control different factions, each with asymmetrical powers and characteristics. We will explore the planet Dune in search of the spice, the most precious substance in the universe, but in this arduous task we will not be without adversaries willing to do anything to control the planet Arrakis.

For now, we are not given anything a little vague 2022 regarding the release date of the game. There will therefore still be a while to wait but, as the launch trailer reminds us, “God create Arrakis to temper the faithful”. And, on our part at least, we will faithfully wait!
