Finally ! The Ghibli theme park has an official opening date!

This year, you can finally walk the streets of the world of Ghibli in the theme park dedicated to the animation studio.

It’s been almost a year since we last heard from the Ghibli theme park. In February 2021, we discovered together the first images of the construction of the park, rather faithful to the plans unveiled by the builder. Today, it finally has an official opening date. Let’s meet, then 1er November 2022 for its inauguration in the city of Nagakute in Japan!

Studio Ghibli has some new footage to show us

Remember, we already knew that in the park, we would find buildings from films such as the Princess Mononokeor even Howl’s Moving Castle, must-see movies for any Studio Ghibli fan. In total, 5 different areas should be present: the Great Ghibli Warehouse, the Dondoko Forest, the Hill of Youth, the Village of Mononoke and the Valley of the Witches.

On Twitter, the official account of the park graces us today with some unpublished images, showing ” the centerpiece of the Great Ghibli Warehouse “. But we were also treated to a view from above of what looks like another part of the theme park. Still no photos of the other points of interest so we will have to be patient to have a correct and complete overview of the interior of the park.

An incredible diversity of works on the program

As a reminder, the theme park will contain attractions, of which we do not yet know the type, shops, restaurants, as well as a cinema. The set will be inspired by films such as If you listen, Kiki the little witch and should even have exhibition areas, which will allow to present more of the universe of Ghibli in great detail.

Everything is located on the former site of the Japanese Universal Exhibition, which took place in 2005 in Aichi prefecture. It is with an implacable logic that this environment was chosen for the park since, due to the exhibition, the house of Mei and Satsuki (My Neighbor Totoro) had already been built there. The park has therefore only extended around this central point over more than 7 hectares.
