Games May 2023 – MuyComputer

May is here, the month that normally marks the arrival of the increasingly approaching summer, although it is true that this year April has taken the lead in this regard, with temperatures that have exceeded historical records. But it is better not to go into that subject, that there is too much cloth to cut and it is not the moment. Instead, we will talk about another heat, which is the one that causes us the excitement for the launch of the games that we have been waiting for a long time.

In this regard, May is quite a promising month. And I say promising, instead of positive, because we don’t win to upset with the games that arrive in a sorry state. When we were still finishing processing the disaster of The Last of Us Part 1, we have seen again that having expectations is a bad idea, and that developers and distributors take us for idiots. I am referring, of course, to the disaster that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has caused, a highly anticipated game, which many of us were very excited about, but which sees how a great plot is totally unworthy due to a technical level that is an insult to anyone who has spent their money on it.

We are not cynical or disbelievers by birth, it is life that gives us the scars necessary for us to start acting in such a way, right? But hey, neither can we make an amendment to the entirety and deny the games that have been on the market for less than a month and that, in that period, have already amply proven to be up to the task. So, new month, and we return to give the most interesting releases of the month a chance. Of course, crossing our fingers in the hope that we do not find ourselves with new disappointments, Will there be luck this month?

Age of Wonders 4

  • Release date: May 2
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Age of Wonders is a saga that doesn’t usually fail. Delivery after delivery, Triumph and Paradox are capable of enriching a formula that, since its first delivery, knew how to win over players with its fun combination of 4X strategy and turn-based tactical combat. All decisions will count in the fate of the empire you are trying to forge, will you be able to do it… again?

redfall

  • Release date: May 2
  • platforms: PC and Xbox Series X|S

I thought, as in the rest of the games in this guide, to give a description about it. But, instead, I am forced to warn you that, after its first hours on Steam, it already accumulates a large number of negative reviews… indeed, once again, due to the lack of optimization. And it’s a shame, because the open world shooter premise with vampires was interesting. In the end, we will have to wait for them to fix it.

Ravenlock

  • Release date: May 3
  • platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

With an indisputable inspiration in Alice in Wonderland, Ravenlok begins when the aforementioned crosses a magic mirror that takes her to a fantasy world, which is at its worst moments due to the desolation sown by the sinister darkness of a tyrannical queen. I haven’t seen any footage of the Mad Hatter, but if he showed up in the middle of a game I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

Mechabellum

  • Release date: May 11
  • platforms:pc

We could spend a little while discussing the plot of this game, in which you are the commander of a force of “mecha” on a planet far away (it’s actually called Far-Away, imagine how far away) recently colonized, but you and I know that if this title has caught your attention, it hasn’t been because of the plot, right? I understand you, the same thing happens to me, I stay with the steel giants facing each other as if there was no tomorrow.

TT Isle Of Man: Ride on the Edge 3

  • Release date: May 11
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

Lovers of speed on two wheels, this is probably the title that will interest you the most in all of this 2023. As you may have already deduced from its name, it takes us to the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, with its more than 60 kilometers (the map of the game includes more than 200), its 264 curves and a level of demand that makes even the most professional drivers pale.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Return (if you ever left there) to the lands of Hyrule, as both the princess and the kingdom need your help to find out what has plunged it into darkness and chaos. Link is never easy, you know, but the challenge will certainly be rewarded with every minute of exploring one of the most mythical kingdoms in video game history.

humanity

  • Release date: May 16
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4

If you enjoyed the mythical Lemmings at the time, I have no doubt that this original proposal will earn your interest immediately. And it is that, although obviously with differences from that classic, again you will have to start controlling legions of creatures (humans on this occasion) to their goal, a place called meta (which I hope has nothing to do with Facebook).

The Outlast Trials

  • Release date: May 18
  • platforms:pc

For some time now, it seems that the developers have decided to compete to see who is capable of stopping our hearts faster and more effectively. Set in the times of the Cold War, we will have to face (alone or with friends) an organization that inadvertently recruits human guinea pigs to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control.

I Am Future: Cozy Apocalypse Survival

  • Release date: May 18
  • platforms:pc

Why have we taken for granted that doomsday worlds have to be cold and nasty? Far from that traditional premise, this original title offers us to enjoy the environment, emptier and more natural than ever, rebuild it to our liking, survive without the exhausting pressure of modern life and, who knows? Maybe even prosper and lay the foundations of a new civilization (don’t do it, please…)

LEGO 2K Drive

  • Release date: may 19
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

Winning the Sky Trophy is not within the reach of everyone, although to get it (or at least try) you will have at your disposal all the materials (we are talking about LEGO, so, of course, be prepared to show your talent with the blocks) to Build the car of your dreams, which should also be the one of your rivals’ nightmares.

Amnesia: The Bunker

  • Release date: may 23
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

The creators of the Amnesia saga have already amply accredited their talent when it comes to making us have a hard time, and that we have a great time with it. In this new installment we find ourselves abandoned in a World War I bunker, an environment that we will have to explore even at the cost of multiple shocks, and with the premise that we must avoid, at all costs, staying in the dark.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun

  • Release date: may 23
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch

Warhammer is… well, that’s it, Warhammer, and as with every previous installment, tons of action awaits us in Boltgun, which its developers define as “a maelstrom of sprites, pixels, and blood.” In the role of a space marine, you will have to cross the galaxy to face Chaos Special Marines and Chaos Daemons.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

  • Release date: 25 of May
  • platforms: PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

Sméagol-Gollum is, in his own right, one of the most interesting characters in Tolkien’s work, as he represents the duality that every human being faces when making decisions, and how they determine his future. And that is precisely what this title proposes to us, putting ourselves in the shoes of the tormented creature in his quest to recover the Ring of Power. What path will we follow?

Railway Empire 2

  • Release date: 25 of May
  • platforms:pc

Management simulator lovers… get on the train! This title takes us to the golden age of the railway, at the beginning of the 19th century, and puts us at the controls of a small railway company that, with proper management, could become the largest and most important of the moment. You will be able to play in Europe and the United States, with very detailed maps of the main regions of both geographies.

System Shock

  • Release date: May 30
  • platforms:pc

If you remember the original System Shock from 1994, chances are you’ve got goosebumps reading about this release, a complete remake of the classic in which we’ll find the best of the original title (including the original voice of SHODAN), but with HD graphics, updated controls, a redesigned interface, and exclusive sounds and music. A single glance at the trailer will already allow you to see how this absolutely historic title has evolved.
