Gollum’s game is an incomprehensible mess of requirements on PC, why?

Next May 25 it goes on sale The Lord of the Rings Golluma game that aroused a lot of interest at the beginning of its announcement but, as the months went by, it has faded a bit since it seems that it will not be as many imagined. Even so, those responsible are determined to convince us and that is why they have published some trailers in recent days showing everything it will have.

A Gollum of requirements on PC

The point is that the game will have versions for all known systems: PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and, of course, PC, where those responsible seem to have gone crazy with the requirements that they are going to demand of us. But the problem does not seem to be that, but something that underlies when we take a look at them since they do not seem to fit. It is as if there is something that smells of singe and that the developers want to hide behind the power of the graphics card models with ray tracing.

First of all, it must be said that some of the technical requirements of this Gollum for PC, but it’s been a few days since NVIDA posted them on its website broken down. That is why you will not see information about AMD graphics in this table that we bring you, and that is very illustrative of what the computer that you are going to have to use will be like.

And several things are surprising -to say nothing else-, such as in all configurations above 1080p resolutions it will be necessary to use a graphic with ray tracing, that is, an RTX, or else you will not be able to achieve a performance that is minimally up to par. Which speaks volumes (badly?) that, likewise, the optimization work of the developers has been a disaster that they want to camouflage based on raw power on the part of the hardware.

Other parameters are not logical

But if the mandatory use of NVIDIA RTX graphics cards already seems like a beast for a title that also intends to reach Nintendo Switch, more smells like singe the line of RAM memory requirementswhich is debated between the 6 of the lowest configurations, at 8, 10 and 16. Don’t these seem very small amounts to you for a game that on paper is asking for ray tracing starting at 1440p?

We do not know if these requirements will contain errors or if NVIDIA and the developer itself are analyzing them better, but They are not consistent or coherent and if they reveal something, it is that Gollum it will not be a well optimized game nor does it justify so much display of ray tracing except for major causes, resorting to the power of the most advanced technology to make a title work that should not be such a big deal.

Or do you think that for those resolutions above 1080p it is necessary to have an NVIDIA RTX model? Surely AMD is laughing in the distance watching the enormous mess of requirements that have neither head nor tail. Or do you see any logic in them?
