Google is starting to put ads in Gmail like never before and the criticism has not been long in coming

We are talking about Google again and, once again, not for the better, now at the rate of a increase in Gmail advertising which is making users very upset, not only because of the increase in ads they are experiencing, but also because of the way it is doing it.

Yes, Gmail has advertising, although it tends to go a bit unnoticed because it is generally not a lot and it is strategically placed so that it is distinguishable from the rest of the messages, since they are not banners traditional what the service shows, but a kind of messages marked as advertising that nobody opens. Of course, it is somewhat more common to notice this on mobile than on PC, for those of adblocks that many people use

However, there are more and more people complaining about the same thing: more ads in Gmail and what is worse, many more intrusive than they have ever been, standing now between the messages, as if they were one more. Something about which they have already questioned Google, without obtaining an answer for the moment. And although most of the coverage is being taken by Anglo-Saxon users, on Twitter you can already see complaints in Spanish about the same thing.

Personally I have not come across anything similar and that I manage several Gmail accounts, some also free, in addition to another with a subscription to Google One or professional type with Google Workspaces, which perhaps have been left out of this unwanted novelty. At least for the moment. We’ll see later.

Or maybe it is because as they point out in Neowin, users who have message categories disabled are not receiving these ads in their inboxes, although there seems to be a bit of everything out there. Be that as it may, Google will have to say something sooner rather than later, because the news is already covering a large part of the specialized media.

In another order of things, there are real news about Gmail, these have been officially announced, such as the blue checks for verifying messages, which are beginning to be deployed among all users of the service.
