Will it be released in 2024?
The rumors said that GTA 6 should arrive around 2024, but with nothing clear and with so much smoke in the environment, we still couldn’t believe with total certainty that we will have a little over a year left for the new Rockstar game. However, the dates could have been further outlined thanks to some statements from Microsoft.
Everything is born in the documentation presented by Microsoft with which it justifies and develops the Activision Blizzard purchase. It’s about a 111 page document where he breaks down his arguments to clarify that the purchase is not about any type of market domination movement or monopoly attempt, clarifying that it is a market widely dominated by Sony.
Well, among his arguments, we can find on page 24 of the document that he talks about different dominant and successful franchises in the market that are openly available on other platforms, citing Ubisoft, Sony itself, Electronics Ars, Epic Games, Studio Wildcard and, obviously, he also talks about Take-Two, the company that owns Rockstar, the creators of GTA.
And it is there, in that section about Take-Two where he leaves a rather interesting comment: “The highly anticipated GTA 6 is expected to be released in 2024”. What exactly does Microsoft know? Has the release date of GTA 6 left us on a plate?
Official words, but not so much
A statement from Microsoft saying that GTA 6 is expected to be released in 2024 may sound overly enlightening, but in reality, what the document does is quote information that was published on the blog TechRadar, where through an article they have been compiling the rumors and leaks around the game. There there was talk of some first possible dates around 2024 and 2025, and little by little the information was pointing to 2024, especially the end of 2024.
That range of dates is the one that Microsoft points out in its statements, so in principle we cannot talk about privileged information that the company has in its possession, but simple clippings that the team of lawyers have used to fill out the defense document around the purchase of Activision.
Having said that, we do not want to say that the date of 2024 is not true, but not precisely because of the intervention of Microsoft. It will be the leakers who have to continue refining their aim until they find more specific details, although we are very afraid that after the gameplay leak, everything must be quite well reserved until they release a teaser, trailer or simple announcement on Twitter with the game’s final release date.
