These users carry out live shows of all kinds, and the platform that dominates the format is none other than Twitch, a service owned by Amazon. But, how much money can you earn on the platform? Is it easy to earn money?
How to make money on Twitch
You may be completely obsessed with uploading content to Twitch, and probably your only mission is to earn money from that content. The process is not easy, and you will have to meet many requirements to be eligible for the rewards program.
And it is that broadcasting live every day will not be enough for you. You need to be constant and meet a series of objectives, and from there, you will be able to achieve one of the two monetization modalities that exist.
Twitch Affiliate
It is the first level (and the most accessible) to start earning money. You get paid for subscriptions, Bits sent to you by viewers, and ads that appear in the broadcast. It is the modality to which more users are subscribed, and to achieve it you must meet the following requirements:
- Accumulate at least 500 minutes of streaming in the last 30 days (that’s at least 16 minutes a day for an entire month).
- Make at least 7 direct in the last 30 days.
- Have a live audience of at least 3 simultaneous viewers in the last 30 days.
- Have at least 50 followers.
Once you meet those requirements, you’ll receive a notification and email from Twitch inviting you to become an affiliate.
Twitch Partner
Only available to major streamers, this type of membership comes directly from Twitch. To achieve this, you must have a weight channel, so that your statistics attract attention in the company’s offices. You will have to apply the request, broadcast a total of 25 hours in 30 days, make 12 different broadcasts and have an average of 75 viewers in a period of 30 days.
They are slightly more difficult requirements, but perfectly achievable. The problem may be in the acceptance of your channel by Twitch, so you must make 100% sure that you comply with the guidelines of the service.
Subscription types
On the viewer side, there will be several options to support the channel:
- Prime subscription: It is free if you have an Amazon Prime account. They must renew it manually every month, and provide the channel with a subscription similar to that of Level 1.
- Subscription Level 1 (Tier 1): It costs 3.99 euros and is the cheapest.
- Subscription Level 2 (Tier 2): It costs 7.99 euros per month.
- Subscription Level 3 (Tier 3): It costs 19.99 euros per month.
Higher levels offer the chance to get exclusive features like special emoticons or badges that will make you stand out in chat.
The distribution of money
And here comes the most controversial part of the entire process. And it is that much has been said about the distribution of Twitch benefits with the content creators. Everything is summed up in the type of affiliation you have, since depending on whether you are an affiliate or a partner, you can earn more or less money. And that’s where it all comes down to.
If you’re a regular streamer, Twitch will keep 50% of what you earn, and you’ll receive the other 50%. On the contrary, those Partners with large deals manage to earn 70% of the revenue, while Twitch keeps the remaining 30%.
Partner Plus: How to improve Twitch revenue sharing
This equitable distribution (and unfair for many) has been maintained for many years, since the absence of alternatives forced streamers to continue trusting Twitch as a platform. The problem is that in recent months a platform called Kick has begun offering million-dollar sponsorships and deals to big Twitch stars, forcing the Amazon brand to take action. And the measures are none other than a more favorable distribution for content creators.
This is how Twitch Partner Plus was born, a new modality that guarantees income from 70% of all subscriptions received, although it will not count those that come from Prime accounts.
To opt for the Partner Plus modality, you must meet the following requirements:
- Have 350 subscribers and not go below that figure for 3 months.
As soon as you get the new Partner modality, you will keep it for 12 months, and it will always continue like this as long as you continue to maintain above 350 subscribers.
