Important changes at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The American multinational has announced a series of changes to its organizational structure and executive management, including the creation of a new hybrid cloud business unit. The reorganization aims to streamline operations, focus on key growth areas and unify its solutions portfolio under HPE GreenLake, its pay-as-you-go bet.
Antonio Neri, CEO and president of the company, has announced on his corporate blog that the new Hybrid Cloud business unit will be led by HPE’s current CTO, Fidelma Russo. The unit will integrate the HPE GreenLake platform with technologies and services from HPE Storage, GreenLake Cloud Services Solutions and the current Office of the CTO.
“Having laid the foundation for success, we are now evolving our operating model to accelerate execution, deliver a superior experience to customers and partners, and drive company growth and value for our shareholders. These changes to HPE’s organizational structure and executive leadership, effective at the beginning of our fiscal year 2024 on November 1, 2023, will further unify our portfolio and improve the delivery of a true cloud experience for our customers. and partners and position us to continue gaining market share,” writes Neri.
HPE launched the GreenLake platform in 2017, with the goal that the company’s entire portfolio of solutions would eventually be delivered as a service. HPE GreenLake currently offers more than 70 cloud services, including GreenLake for Private Cloud Enterprise, data fabric, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), block storage, disaster recovery, backup and recovery, compute operations management or services for different verticals.
The president of HPE highlights that currently, the platform already supports more than 27,000 unique customers and has 3.4 million connected devices. For the past two years, Fidelma Russo has led the team that launched HPE GreenLake. He joined HPE in 2021 to lead the company’s innovation agenda and technology roadmap, while managing the design and development of new services. Previously, Ella Russo was senior vice president and general manager of VMware’s cloud services business unit.
Leadership changes
Within the hybrid cloud business unit, Tom Black, executive vice president and general manager of HPE Storage, will lead the private cloud team. For the past three years, Black led HPE’s storage business group, overseeing its transformation into a data services business and launching the HPE Alletra portfolio and its first storage-as-a-service offerings.
HPE’s reorganization will also see the departure of some key leaders. Vishal Lall, senior vice president and general manager of HPE’s GreenLake Cloud Services Solutions group, will leave the company at the end of this year, Neri announced. Lall has contributed to multiple HPE initiatives during his decade-long career at the company, including GreenLake, Aruba, Ezmeral and Hewlett Packard Pathfinder.
Another important departure is that of Pradeep Kumar, director of HPE Services and a veteran of more than 27 years with the company. His departure lays the foundation for greater organizational alignment. “With Pradeep’s retirement, we will now put the key operational activities of all our products and services under one leader,” Neri said. Now, HPE Services, Supply Chain and Quote-to-Cash will be combined into the Global Operations organization, which will continue to be led by Mark Bakkerexecutive vice president and general manager of HPE Global Operations.
“I said during my early days as CEO that the enterprise of the future would be edge-centric, cloud-enabled, and data-driven,” explains Neri. “That vision from almost six years ago has become strategy, then innovation, and ultimately strong momentum for HPE and business results for customers and partners across industries.”
