Intel raises prices for Alder Lake, which is now more expensive than Raptor Lake

Intel has raised the prices of Alder Lake processors in the online database of Ark products. Through said database, which can be consulted easily and openly by users, an increase of 10% is shown, which depending on the case can translate into a rise of up to approximately sixty dollars.

With the increase in the price of Alder Lake processors (twelfth generation of Intel Core), we find that now these products, taking as reference the data provided by Intel and at least for the United States, are now more expensive than Raptor Lake (thirteenth generation ). However, the “joy” could be short-lived, since Everything indicates that the chip giant intends to also raise the prices of Raptor Lake to recover the normal scenario, that is, that the latest generation processors are worth more than the previous ones.

New prices for select Intel Alder Lake processors.

This movement is a bit strange if we take into account that there are already several studies that indicate a sharp decrease in hardware sales, both in processors and dedicated graphics.

The forecasts indicate that, barring a miracle, 2023 may be the worst year in history for the sale of first-hand hardware, and that is that the still high prices that exist (especially those of the graphics cards), together with the context of multiple crises in which we live, have meant that many have not renewed hardware in recent years. The situation is such that the graphics most used by Steam users with the GTX 1650, which recently took first place, and the GTX 1060which was the first for many years, so it can be concluded that the presumed prevalence of things like 4K and ray tracing is more noise than reality among “real world” gamers.

Secondly, Intel may be trying to improve its margins in a context where Raptor Lake is doing much better than Ryzen 7000 in business termsand it is that the latest generation of AMD processors has crashed due to the requirement to renew the motherboard, the price of the motherboards themselves and the requirement to use DDR5, while Alder Lake and Raptor Lake have maintained compatibility with the motherboards and DDR4.

We will see how this price increase affects Europe, if it is applied in these parts in the end. We remember that the rise of Alder Lake is confirmed, but seeing that the models of said generation are now more expensive than the Raptor Lake, surely Intel will raise the prices of the latter not long after.
