In this new generation of products, many new terms have been introduced such as ATX 3.0, 12VHPWR or PCI-Express 5.0 that will not mean anything to many users, but in summary what we can tell you is that this implies incorporating the new type of connector of power supply for new generation graphics cards, replacing the previous 6 or 6+2 pin PCIe that we used up to now.
The Corsair RMe 2023 arrive for the new generation
Corsair has always been considered not only one of the main manufacturers of power supplies on the market, but also one of those that can boast the highest quality and reliability (it is not for nothing that many of its models have a 10-year guarantee). In the case of this new Corsair RMe 2023 series that has just been announced, we could consider them as high-end but not top-of-the-range, and you will see it from its technical characteristics.
We are dealing with a power supply model fully modular and that carries certification of efficiency 80 Plus Gold (just because of the certification we cannot consider them top of the range, since it has two more above… although as you already know this does not imply that they are bad by any means), and the great novelty is that they comply with the new ATX 3.0 standard and PCI-Express 5.0, so the new 12VHPWR connector is natively included, which is capable of providing up to 600W of power with a single connector.
Available in powers of 750W, 850W and 1000W, all of them share the same compact design (they measure 150 x 140 x 86 mm) with a 120 mm fan to cool all the internal components, a fan with “rifle bearing” bearings that has technology ” Zero RPM”, which means that when the power supply is below 40% load, the fan will be completely stopped so as not to make any noise.
All models, regardless of their nominal power, incorporate a single powerful +12V rail, although what does change is the current intensity that they are capable of generating based on their power: the 750W model generates 62.5A ( more than enough to serve the most powerful graphics cards of the moment), while the 850W one generates 70.8A and the top-of-the-range model of the family, the 1000W one, is capable of delivering up to 83.3A current current. They also meet the specifications of the ATX12V v3 and EPS12V v2.92 standards.
Price and availability
We will have to wait until April 27, 2023 to be able to purchase the new Corsair RMe 2023 Series, although this will initially only be in the manufacturer’s online store, and it is to be expected that it will take a few more days to reach the usual stores than They sell the brand’s products.
For now, Corsair hasn’t indicated a recommended retail price, but expect them to be relatively inexpensive sources with prices around €150 for the RM750e model, €180 for the RM850e and €230 for the RM1000e model.
