The collection of NFT Bored Ape Yacht Club will be declined in films. The Coinbase platform has just announced the production of a trilogy devoted to the famous monkeys sold for colossal sums.

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) continue to spread across the web. Despite the lack of love displayed by a large part of Internet users, many companies are entering the market for digital works certified on the blockchain. This craze has given a boost to the NFT market, which has exceeded 22 billion dollars.

In this context, multiple collections of non-fungible tokens have met with enormous success. This is the case of the collection entitled “Bored Ape Yacht Club”. This ultra-popular collection has 10,000 monkey faces. Launched in February 2021, the initiative quickly became a real cultural phenomenon. Transactions around these tokens exceeded $1.5 billion in one year. The cheapest monkey costs the sum of 250,000 dollars.

Coinbase to Produce Three Bored Ape Yacht Club Monkey Movies

Determined to take advantage of the success of the collection, Coinbase, the famous cryptocurrency exchange platform, has announced the production of a film trilogy dedicated to the monkeys of the Bored Ape Yacht Club. These will be short films only. The first installment will be screened at the NFT.NYC event, which will take place from June 20 to 23, 2022. The trilogy is titled “The Degen Trilogy” in reference to a popular term in the cryptocurrency community.

All owners of an NFT in the collection will be able to submit their monkey to the cast of the trilogy. Investors are invited to provide a short description of their monkey as well as a fictional biography. A casting director will then choose the most interesting characters to integrate them into the project. If the chosen NFT, the owner will receive the sum of $10,000 in Bitcoin or ApeCoin, the currency linked to the collection.

“We have an incredible group of directors, writers and animators behind this film. We can’t tell you who they are right now, but you’ve seen what they’ve done before”, assures Coinbase. To view the footage online, you will need to log in with a Coinbase digital wallet.
