After months of rumors and leaks, we can finally talk for sure about the expected Nothing Phone (2), a smartphone that aims to revalidate the great reception of its predecessor, the award-winning Nothing Phone (1). And in the end, as usually happens in most cases, some rumors pointed in the right direction, while others have turned out to be wrong, which is why whenever we echo this type of information, we specifically remember that they must be taken into account with due reservations until official confirmation is produced.

So now we are ready to review the technical specifications and the price of the Nothing Phone (2) and, as you will be able to verify when reviewing them with us, we are facing a remarkable evolution that, in addition, remains at a fairly contained price line for a device that points to the high-end range, and that also has some innovations own that make it even more interesting.

It is likely that when I mentioned the high range you were surprised, and it is normal, since the Nothing Phone (1) was clearly aimed at the mid-range. However, when reviewing the specifications of this Nothing Phone (2), you will have already verified that we find ourselves with an evolution with which the manufacturer points higher, with the obvious intention of becoming considered as another high-end option. Something that we also see reflected, of course, in its price, which without being as high as some rumors suggested, does represent a significant leap compared to the previous generation.

Nothing Phone (2), positive evolution

There are two first elements that we see when looking at this Nothing Phone (2): its screen and the already characteristic transparent design with Glyph, the customizable notification system based on the LEDs integrated throughout the device, and which has undergone an important evolution, since it now collects many more events and information about the phone. This is the full list:

  • 33 individually accessible zones
  • 10 new ringtones and notification sounds
  • 10 classic Phone (1) ringtones and Phone (2) voice notifications
  • Glyph Timer
  • essential notifications
  • volume indicator
  • Glyph Composer
  • Glyph Lantern
  • Progress in Glyph

  • Reverse Charge Glyph

Thus, without a doubt, we find what is the most distinctive feature of the Nothing proposal, and which for many users will mean significant added value.

Now let’s go back to the screen to see that we are facing a generous 6.7-inch OLED panel with FullHD+ resolution (2,300 x 1,080 in a wide 21:9 aspect ratio), with a density of 394 dots per inch. It has a variable refresh rate, capable of scaling up to 120 hertz, supports HDR10+ and is capable of reaching a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. For your protection, use Gorilla Glass Victus. And to complete what is referred to as resistance, we are talking about a device with an IP54 level of protection against dust and liquids.

Already inside we find the other great sign that the Nothing Phone (2) points to the high range, and that is that is powered by a Snapdragon Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, that is, the revision of the top of the range of Qualcomm in its previous generation. In other words, we are not facing the most innovative SoC for this market segment, but the one that was the main protagonist of it during the second half of last year and early 2023. In comparison, the Nothing Phone (1) mounts a Snapdragon 778G+, which is a chip aimed at the medium, medium-high range, which was presented in October 2021. To accompany this SoC, we find configurations with 8 and 12 gigabytes of RAM and 128, 256 and 512 gigabytes of storage.

Nothing Phone (2), positive evolution

Starting with the wireless plane, we find 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, along with WiFi Direct, NFC and compatibility with the main global positioning networks. As for connectors, the list is very short, since it only has a USB-C port for data transfer, headphone connection, and charging. battery charging, 4,700 milliamps and that it can provide 22 and a half hours of autonomy and can be fully charged in 55 minutes, according to the manufacturer. supports 45 watt fast charge and 15-watt wireless charging, plus five-watt reverse charging.

Regarding the photographic section, we find a main chamber composed of two elements, a wide-angle main sensor (equivalent to a 24 mm) with f / 1.9 number, which is accompanied by an ultra-wide angle (114ยบ) also with 50 megapixels, this one with f / 2.2 number. For the front camera, which is located in a hole in the upper center of the screen, Nothing has opted for a 32-megapixel wide-angle with f/2.5 number.
