Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro+, the first smartphone with up to 24 gigabytes of RAM

The Red Magic 8S Pro+ is one of those smartphones that, after reading its technical specifications, you have to rub your eyes and repeat the operation, to confirm that you have not made a mistake. Something that, on the other hand, happens regularly when we enter this subcategory of the smartphone market dedicated to models aimed at the gaming segment, that is, devices designed to provide, in a device that fits in a pocket, some technical specifications that would make many PCs blanch with envy.

Nubia, with its Red Magic, has become over time one of the reference families in this market. The latest proof of this, so far, we had with the Red Magic 8 Pro, presented at the end of last year, and which was also one of the first smartphones to bring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC to the market, in addition to being the first to make use of next-generation technologies, such as LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0. So, starting from that base, this Red Magic 8S Pro had to aim very, very high, to surpass its predecessor.

In view of its technical specifications, revealed by Nubia in its official presentation, which is echoed by GSMArena, they have achieved it, reaching a point where many of us already have to consider whether there are or will exist in the short term games or applications capable of taking full advantage of them. But hey, the subjective perception of each user also comes into play there, so it is something that is not worth dwelling on too much.

Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro+, the first smartphone with up to 24 gigabytes of RAM

At the epicenter of the Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro+ we find a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2, a SoC that was rumored a few months ago that it would not hit the market, but of which we had confirmation only a few weeks ago, when a performance test was published on AnTuTu, precisely on this Red Magic 8S. Thus, today it has been confirmed that that test (in which he obtained 1.7 million points) was real. We are talking about an integrated with a CPU capable of scaling up to 3.36 gigahertz and a GPU that reaches 719 megahertz.

Nubia has presented several versions, the Red Magic 8S Pro and the Pro+, which are quite similar in specifications, with the main difference being the maximums in terms of RAM and storage. Thus, the “basic” model (it almost hurts, even putting it in quotes, to call it that way) offers up to 12 gigabytes of LPDDR5X RAM memory and up to 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage, which are already amounts worthy of a top of the range . But it is that if we go to the Red Magic 8S Pro +, they grow to 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and one terabyte of UFS 4.0 storage. This beast is powered by a battery 6,000 milliamps that it is possible to recharge at record speed, thanks to the function of fast charging up to 165 watts.

Regarding your screen, we find a 6.8” AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,116 x 2,480 dots (20:9) with a refresh rate of up to 120 hertz. can reach the 1,300 nits and, for those who love color reproduction fidelity, it offers coverage of the 100% DCI-P3 color space. Such a jewel of a screen is properly protected, since it is shielded behind the security it provides Gorilla Glass 5.

The new Nubia Red Magic 8S Pro have only been announced. For the moment, for the Chinese market, but we can hope that sooner or later they will make the leap to international markets. And when it happens, of course, we will notify you of it.
