ONEXPLAYER 2, the portable beast returns

Before starting to talk about the ONEXPLAYER 2, it is best to provide a bit of context, because although it is highly valued by its connoisseurs (and even more so by its users), the truth is that we are talking about a device that is quite unknown to the general public, and we are talking about a device that does not leave you indifferent, with spectacular features, a very fine-tuned design and, yes, a price to match all of the above.

Announced in May of last year, the One Xplayer became an immediate hit in advertising campaigns. crowdfunding, since the project was financed through Indiegogo, where it managed to raise one million dollars as soon as the campaign started, which initially intended to reach 200,000 Hong Kong dollars, about 24,215 euros at the current exchange rate. The campaign ended by raising no less than 1,947,450 euros, which demonstrates the enormous interest it aroused from the outset.

It is interesting to take the dates into account, since when this campaign to finance the One Xplayer began, there were still two months to go before the official announcement of Steam Deck took place, which, together with Nintendo Switch, are the two platforms that share the portable console market, leaving a fairly small space for other initiatives in this regard, such as the most recent Logitech G, designed with cloud gaming in mind.

Now, with a much livelier market thanks to the success of the Steam Deck, One has hit the road again, by announcing ONEXPLAYER 2, the next generation of its portable console which, how could it be otherwise, maintains the level in terms of specifications, design… and yes, what you were fearing, also in price, although the truth is that its technical specifications, the ones we know so far, they justify it.

Let’s start by reviewing its exterior, in which a screen stands out 8.4-inch Full-HD IPS with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 dots, a jump in size from the Steam Deck and Logitech G, both with seven-inch screens. As you can see in the images, it also has controls on both sides of it, but the interesting thing is that these are removable. But the most interesting thing is not that, the remarkable point is that we can use them, together with an included adapter, to turn them into a wireless controller, quite a genius.

Once inside, we see that in One-Netbook Technology they have not wanted to skimp either, so the ONEXPLAYER 2 is motorized with a AMD Ryzen 7 6800U APU eight cores, which integrates a Radeon 680M graphics adapter (twelve cores). will be accompanied by 16 or 32 gigabytes of RAM and, in terms of storage capacity, it will repeat the configurations of its predecessor, with 512 gigabytes, one and two terabytes, PCIe M.2 2280 in all cases. In terms of sound, it is Harman certified, so it will surely be first class.

All this set will be powered by a battery of no less than 65.5 watt hoursthat is to say, of a capacity similar to those that we can find in many laptops, capable of being charged to 50% in 40 minutes.

Like the One Xplayer, this ONEXPLAYER 2 can be purchased through a campaign on Indiegogo, which will begin on December 20, and its price will start at $899.
