This Thursday, October 6, 2022, Google has made an appointment with fans for a new conference dedicated to the presentation of two highly anticipated products. First of all, the Mountain View company has lifted the veil on its next two smartphones, the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, as well as on its first connected watch, the Pixel Watch.

Among the main novelties of these two smartphones, we note the integration of a new generation processor, Tensor G2. Unsurprisingly, this SoC will give pride of place to AI by offering advanced machine learning and voice recognition features.

In fact, Google has used its advances in artificial intelligence to introduce new photo editing features. After the Pixel 6 magic eraser, Google is therefore launching the Photo Unblur on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

Google launches a magic function to deblur its photos

The principle is simple: this feature allows you remove blur and visual noise of a photo, even after taking it. In addition, it also offers the possibility of removing blur from photos captured with other devices, directly on Google Photos. To summarize, this functionality has two approaches:

  • Using the camera of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, the smartphones will combine camera data from the 50 MP main sensor and the ultra-wide-angle sensor, associated with a machine learning algorithmto increase the sharpness of the pictures taken
  • If your photo was taken on another device, it is possible to use the Photo Unblur directly in the Google Photos application

To do this, Google has clarified that it is a fully AI-driven function, which therefore exploits the power of the Tensor G2 processor. The Mountain View firm also specifies that Photo Unblur is available exclusively on Pixel 7. Logical given that this functionality is linked directly to Google’s new SoC. Anyway, we can’t wait to test the Photo Unblur to see whether or not its effectiveness.
