RTX 3000, RX 6000: graphics card prices are collapsing, soon a return to normal?

While the price of graphics cards has been soaring for years now due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but above all due to the global shortage of semiconductors, it seems that prices are falling.

According to a report from 3D Center, Nvidia and AMD graphics card prices continue to drop in April. This report, which gives one of the most accurate representations of the GPU marketbased on price data from German and Austrian retailers, reveals that AMD’s RX 6000 series GPU and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 30 series GPU pricing has almost reached manufacturers’ suggested retail prices.

Indeed, compared to three weeks ago, AMD GPU prices fell 13% on average, while Nvidia GPUs fell -6%. By the end of March, GPUs from Nvidia and AMD were all around 25% above the MSRP, but prices have come down significantly. The Nvidia’s GPUs are now 19% above MSRPand the AMD’s GPUs are only 12% above MSRPon average.

The price of graphics cards could soon reach that recommended by the manufacturers

Usually, anything above MSRP isn’t good news, but it seems like it’s been ages since graphics cards have been this close to their recommended retail price. Last month, we could also see that graphics card prices were plummeting on eBay, as they had fallen by 25% in just 3 months, compared to their peaks last year.

In addition to falling prices, GPU supply also seems to be plentiful. After shortages on a global scale last year, the market is therefore gradually picking up, which should delight players who have mostly been unable to order a graphics card for their machines in recent years. It is worth remembering that this sharp fall in prices is observed at German retailers, it could therefore be that prices in France are currently slightly higher.
