Samsung reinforces its commitment to cloud gaming

Cloud gaming remains a trend, and at Samsung they are well aware of this. And it is that, hand in hand with this new paradigm, another one arises that we have been talking about for some time and for which more manufacturers are betting every day. I am referring, of course, to the concept of console as a service, something that has already been offered de facto by some services such as GeForce NOW and Xbox Cloud for some time, and that is confirmed with the plans (at the moment on pause, yes) of those of Redmond with Xbox Keystone.

The concept, to explain it in the most basic way, is to transform multiple types of devices (from smartphones to televisions) into consoles, which will only need a controller and a good Internet connection (by the way, here we tell you how to reduce the latency of your connection to play in the cloud without problems). The rest, that is, the processing capacity necessary to run the games, this time it falls on the server side of the service you are using.

As I said before, at Samsung they are quite aware of the great possibilities that this means for your televisions. And it is that to convert a screen into a next-generation console it is no longer necessary to provide it with the necessary components, it is enough to provide a good integration with gaming services in the cloud, high-speed connectivity, Bluetooth to be able to connect the controls… and play.

Samsung reinforces its commitment to cloud gaming

Last June we saw a very smart move by Samsung in this regard, since in a few weeks we learned that its most current televisions would include direct access to Xbox Cloud and GeForce NOW, as well as the lesser known but also interesting Utomik. And as the Korean technology company reports today, Samsung will also add direct access to Antstream Arcade and Blacknut, so itss televisions already offer access to more than 2,500 games in the cloud.

But this is not the only novelty in this regard. As usually happens in these cases, the list of Samsung televisions to which this possibility came in the first instance was quite limited, and only with models from this year. However, in a deployment that began today and will continue until the end of the year, several 2021 display models will also receive the update necessary to be able to access said services directly, from the TV’s OS.

And there are still more. If you know GeForce NOW, the cloud gaming service, you will know that its top-of-the-range subscription plan, GeForce NOW RTX 3080 offers, among other advantages, that of playing in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second on certain compatible devices. Well, in said update, both the 2021 and 2022 models of those selected for it, and that have 4K resolution, will be added to the list of devices that support 4K60FPS of GeForce NOW RTX 3080.
