Seven out of 10 digital companies hope to increase their business figures

The vast majority of professional sectors have been affected in recent months by a general feeling of high uncertainty caused by the new context of monetary policy.

But given the prospect of a possible contagion of this situation to the digital sphere through a slowdown in IT investments, the truth is that the short-term expectations of Spanish ICT entrepreneurs do not seem to reflect this circumstance. In fact, 72.5% of the companies hope to continue increasing their volume of activity in the next three months.

This is one of the main conclusions of the monthly barometer TIC Monitora report prepared jointly by Vass and the Center for Economic Prediction Ceprede in which it is detailed that the climate index for the sector reaches +45.0 points, once again exceeding the European Union average (+28.6 points) .

“Despite the growing uncertainty in the global socioeconomic context, the truth is that the optimism of Spanish ICT businessmen improves compared to the previous edition of TIC Monitor”highlights Antonio Rueda, director of Vass Research and head of TIC Monitor, who has also held “a rebound in optimism in the creation of jobs specialized in digital services, having dissipated the alarms in the sector registered two months ago”.

Proof of this is that the employability indicator of the TIC Monitor has improved its mark from the previous issue, going from +23.4 points to +37.9. On a -100/+100 scale, this would be equivalent to saying that 69% of the businessmen surveyed are committed to net job creation in the short term. A figure that also means that Spain exceeds employability expectations for the first time in 2023 compared to the community average.

Optimism in employability and billing

This greater optimism in the short term, both in terms of employability and turnover, is accompanied by a positive start to the year. Thus, the new edition of the TIC Monitor certifies that the turnover of the sector grew by 14.1% in year-on-year terms, between January 2022 and January 2023, 41% above the services sector as a whole. The average growth of the last twelve months has been 19.1%.

The higher business figures have boosted turnover per employee to a growth of 6.7% in the last 12 months, breaking the downward trend registered in our previous delivery.

“It should be noted that these good data have coexisted with moderate price growth, which at a sectoral level have increased by 2.6% in 2022”, has rated Wheel. “It supposes a containment effort on the part of the ICT companies, which has a favorable impact on the general inflationary scenario”has sentenced.

Regarding the generation of specialized employment, the new edition of TIC Monitor highlights that in the last 12 months the digital services sector has added 40,642 new affiliatesreaching the historical maximum of 447,585 workers in March 2023. The demand for specialized talent shows a year-on-year increase of 6.9%, between January 2022 and January 2023.
