Telegram launches a new energy saving mode

The new version of Telegram is now available, a little different from what we are used to, since practically all the bulk of the news is reserved for mobile applications, leaving desktop clients aside. Of course, considering its main novelty, it makes sense.

And it is that the new version of Telegram launches an energy saving mode specially designed to optimize the experience on “low-end Android devices”, although the option is available to all users, also those who use iOS. Things are about energy saving today, yes, although contrary to what I said before with the example of Chrome, this feature has a reason for being on mobile phones, and not on computers. Not on laptops either.

This energy saving that Telegram has implemented consists, in fact, of disabling the application’s animations -and something else- “to extend battery life and improve performance on older devices.” The option is available in a new energy saving section in Telegram settings. By default it’s off, but it can be set to turn on automatically depending on the phone’s battery level and includes options to turn off specific item playback.

iOS users can also use power saving, but to limit background updates, something that, strangely enough, Telegram managers advise against doing, since it will cause additional inconvenience. Regarding Android, they have tested it on more than 200 phone models by hand to create the custom settings.

Apart from the energy saving mode, this new version of Telegram brings more news, including a more accurate playback speed in audios, videos, voice messages and video messages by pressing the corresponding button, with which it is possible to use any reproduction speed between 0.2x-2.5x; also added a accurate reading time in messages from users in groups of less than 100 members; and added the option to send invite links in messages to users who have blocked the auto-invite.

For the rest, Telegram has tweaked the presentation of the sticker packs, adds translations to the bot descriptions, improves folder management in iOS and, as usual with each new version, fixes numerous bugs and adds new animated emojis, interactive and reactions, although most are only available to Telegram Premium users, the payment plan with which to increase Telegram’s capabilities in various sections and which do not stop promoting when they have the opportunity to do so.

To all this, are you Telegram users? So yes or yes, you have to subscribe to the MC channel on Telegram, where you will receive all our publications on time to consume them with the greatest of comfort. And no, you don’t have to be a Premium user to enjoy it, just use Telegram.
