Thomas Katainen, a Finn, received his Tesla Model S, an edition released in 2013, a few months ago. “When I bought this Tesla, the first 1,500 kilometers were nice ”, says the buyer. Shortly after receipt of the car, the used electric car is suddenly broke down. After towing the vehicle to a garage, the verdict is in: Model S requires a complete battery change.

“The car spent approximately a month in a Tesla dealership’s workshop and I finally got a call saying there was nothing they could do about it, the only solution being to change the entire battery cell”, testifies Thomas Katainen, annoyed by his mishap.

Unfortunately, this operation is invoiced 20,000 euros by garage owners from Tesla. The vehicle warranty has apparently expired. Worse, the insurance company does not cover the replacement of the battery. The motorist then had to pay the repair costs in full or resell the car for a much lower price for parts.

Annoyed by the situation, Thomas Katainen preferred to opt for a more original solution. “I told them I was going to blow up the whole car ”, explains the Finnish motorist. To put his project into action, he approached the Youtube channel Pommijätkät (“Bombe mecs” in French). The videographers behind the channel specialize in exploding objects and other extreme experiences.

In the video, visible at the end of the article, we see that the Tesla Model S has been towed to a large expanse of snow lost in the wilderness and out of sight. On the spot, sticks of dynamite were stuck to the side of the car. The film crews used up to 30 kilos of dynamite to succeed in detonating the car.

Cherry on the cake, a mannequin with the effigy of Elon Musk was placed behind the wheel just before the explosion. Thomas Katainen hopes that the income generated by the video will make up for the money lost in the purchase of the car. Note that the video already counts over 2 million views.
