The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is even more resistant than other smartphones, the proof in video

Are foldable smartphones less durable than traditional phones? Well not necessarily, and that’s exactly what Youtuber JerryRigEverything tries to demonstrate in his extreme stress test videos.

It has now been several days since Samsung launched its latest addition to its foldable range, the Galaxy Z Fold 4. The smartphone is not a revolution compared to the previous model, but in terms of design Samsung has nevertheless improved the quality of the hinge by making it more resistant, and above all reduced the space it occupies.

Everything therefore suggests that the durability of the smartphone has been increased compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 of 2021, although Samsung still promises 200,000 openings and closings. The famous Youtuber JerryRigEverything therefore set out to test the resistance of the device on video in its usual testand the least we can say is that the smartphone is doing brilliantly.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 survives this extreme durability test

Last year, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 surprised the Youtuber by surviving the different stages of the test, which consist in particular of scratching the screen, burning it, giving it a dust bath and even bending it. Given that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 had emerged intact from all these ordeals, it is not surprising to see that the same is true with the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

As a reminder, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 uses screens protected by Gorilla Glass Victus + on the outside and UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass) on the inside. Both therefore absorb scratches well. The smartphone is also IPX8 certified, which allows it to withstand immersion in clear water for 30 minutes. Despite the lack of dust certification, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 does not flinch when the Youtuber tries to get sand inside.

As always, it is worth remembering that IP certifications ensure that the smartphone is protected in untreated water. A passage in a swimming pool or in the sea could therefore be fatal. for all devices on the market. Despite the thinner hinge, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 was virtually impossible to foldeven when pressure was applied from its weaker side, opposite the hinge.

Despite its folding screen, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 has therefore proven to be much more resistant than some of its competitors. One thinks in particular of the OnePlus 10T, which quickly broke in two during the folding test.
