The iPhone 15 Pro Max could win again in photos with its giant sensor

The photo module of the iPhone 15 Pro Max reveals itself a little more. This time, the leaker Ice Universe reveals to us that it will be a different model from the one that equips the iPhone 14 Pro Max, since it will be the Sony IMX903, a giant sensor of 1/1.14 thumb. How to prevail against the best of the competition?

There have been plenty of iPhone 15 leaks so far, but they’ve only scratched the surface of what really awaits us with Apple’s next smartphone. Other than the design and some bad news about the price, we ultimately know very little about the upcoming Pro Max model. But that’s without counting on the Ice Universe leaker who still has a little leak under his elbow.

On Twitter, he revealed the main sensor that will equip the manufacturer’s next flagship. According to him, the iPhone 15 Pro Max would thus be equipped with the Sony IMX903, a giant 1.14 inch sensor. For comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is equipped with the 1/1.28 inch Sony IMX803. The sensor of its successor will therefore be much larger, which will allow it to capture more lights and details in its images.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max relies on a large sensor to become king of photography

What’s more, Ice Universe seems to indicate that the performance of this sensor would approach that of a one-inch sensor, such as that found on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, to name a few. In other words, everything suggests that Apple intends to tackle the competition head-on in the field of photography, in particular the best photophones of the moment.

For the time being, we obviously cannot comment on the actual performance of this sensor and it is necessary to wait for the first tests to see what is really going on. Nevertheless, it is clear that the iPhone 15 Pro Max looks very promising for the moment. We will have to wait for future leaks to confirm these forecasts.
