The Last of Us Part I verified for Steam Deck, and the technical requirements?

Tomorrow is the day awaited by many. After the occasional delay in its launch, The Last of Us Part I will go on sale and, finally, we will be able to enjoy one of the best and most iconic titles that have accompanied Sony for many years now. In addition, it will arrive wrapped up in the recent success of its adaptation to a series by HBO Max, which has scored one of its greatest successes in recent years.

Both those who already played it at the time on PlayStation and all those who have not yet enjoyed it but are looking forward to doing so, will be able to get hold of it. the standard version for 59.99 eurosor by the digital deluxe edition for 10 euros more, that is, for 69.99 euros. We are witnessing, in this way, one more step in Sony’s plans to bring some of its great exclusive titles to PC, a policy that those of us who prefer, when playing, the PC to the consoles (with all the respect for them, of course, I’m only talking about a personal preference).

A few weeks ago we published the technical requirements of The Last of Us Part I but, in addition to reproducing them (and in some cases correcting them, incredible as it may seem), we also analyzed them. Because? Well, because on some occasions these lists, which at first glance seem just an enumeration of components and capacities, hide some questionable practices by those who have published them, be they the developers or the distributors. And it seems that we were not wrong.

In the last few hours, various media outlets have echoed the presence, on the Steam Deck website, of a promo for Valve’s portable console in which you can see The Last of Us Part I running on the portable. To be more exact, in the console shown at the top of the page whose screen plays small video clips of some games, we can see a recognizable image at the first frame, which is none other than Ellie interacting with a giraffe. , and that you can also see at the beginning of this news.

The Last of Us Part I verified for Steam Deck, and the technical requirements?

This is undoubtedly excellent news for owners of a Steam Deck who want to be able to enjoy The Last of Us Part I on their console, since Valve would not include the game in said image if it were not for the fact that it is fully compatible with it.. The game’s page on the store still doesn’t show its compatibility with Steam Deck, but we can imagine the note it will show when it is finally released.

This shows, as my partner Isidro already recounted in the analysis of the requirements of The Last of Us Part I, that Sony has artificially inflated the game’s technical requirementswith the intention of projecting the image that the hardware of its console (on which said title is executed) is comparable to what it indicates is necessary to enjoy it on PC, something that has been more than discredited for a long time.

Inflating the requirements may serve to reinforce the erroneous belief of a minority, that is, those who still believe that the benefits of a current PC are comparable to those of a console of this generation, but on the contrary, they also act as a deterrent for all those who want to play it but, for example, “only” have eight gigabytes of RAM, an insufficient amount based on Sony’s published requirements. AND I can’t help wondering if what they gain on one hand they don’t lose on the other.
