The new Bing comes to the Windows 11 taskbar

At Microsoft they must be celebrating the success of the new Bing in a big way. After years of remaining in the shadow of Google, and although they have tried everything (even giving prizes to users) to encourage the use of their search engine, their agility in using the technology developed jointly with OpenAI to add a chatbot to Bing has completely revolutionized the landscape of information seekers on the Internet and it has allowed Microsoft to show its chest when talking about innovation.

For the first time in years, the informative focus has focused on the Microsoft search engine And, although Google has already announced its plans in this regard with Bard, the rapid deployment carried out by those from Redmond, who were already sending the first invitations to test the new Bing less than a week after its announcement, has revitalized the image from Microsoft and has achieved something unthinkable just a few weeks ago: that there are a huge number of people wanting to use its search engine.

So, it is normal that in Redmond want to take advantage of the traction gained in recent weeks and attract more users to try your chatbot, even if for now it is still necessary to obtain an invitation to access this beta version. We do not know if Microsoft will have distributed more invitations and, if so, in what quantity, but what we are seeing is how it is immersed in a race to make the new Bing accessible from more places.

The new Bing comes to the Windows 11 taskbar

Last week we told you that it is already available on Android and iOS and on Skype and today, as we can read on the search engine’s official blog, Microsoft has released a Windows 11 update that brings the new Bing directly to the taskbar. In this way, all Windows 11 users who have already been invited to test the Microsoft chatbot will be able to make their inquiries directly from the desktop, without having to access Bing from the search engine. The update will be available for «eligible devices running Windows 11, version 22H2«.

With this Windows 11 update, and according to said publication, the goal is to bring the experience provided by the new Bing with artificial intelligence. to the more than 500 million people who use the search box each month from the Windows taskbar. And it is a really smart move, because once the chatbot is available to everyone, even those users who have not shown much interest in this technology so far, will have it so close at hand that they will surely end up trying it, even if they are normally Google users.

They are very smart in Redmond and know that the general release of Bard will bring the focus back to Google, but They currently have the advantage of having been the first and that their rival has not yet entered the ring. Bringing the new Bing to Windows 11, to Android, to iOS and, if possible, even to coffee machines, is a very smart way to take advantage of the temporary advantage they have at the moment. And it is that, if you get users to get used to using your chatbot, there are more chances that they will make it their first option when looking for information on the Internet. And when Prometheus integration into Microsoft Edge arrives, something we haven’t seen a response to from Chrome yet, things could get even better for Microsoft.
