the new interface gives pride of place to wallpapers

Microsoft has just announced good news to members of the Insider program. Starting this week, they will be able to try out the new Xbox Series X/S interface. Unlike the previous version, this design gives pride of place to wallpapers.

Since its launch in 2020, the Xbox Series X / S interface has struggled to convince players. Users complain in particular about its overloaded side, the fault of the presence of many imposing tiles that occupy the entire screen. Inevitably, the interface of the Xbox Series X suffers from the comparison with that of the PS5, which is much more refined and clear.

But over the past three years, Microsoft has tried to modify this interface to meet the expectations of players. Well, for now, it is still far from being the case but the next version seems promising.

Microsoft finally responds to player requests for the interface

Indeed, the manufacturer has just confirmed the arrival in the test phase of the new Xbox interface this week. Please note, however, that only Insider members of the Alpha and Alpha Skip-Ahead programs will be able to take advantage of this new homepage.

According to Microsoft, “this new version incorporates the comments you sent us as well as all the lessons learned from our previous experiences”. Among the main grievances mentioned by the players, we found in particular the too large size of the tiles on the upper part of the home page. Because of them, it is impossible to properly enjoy the wallpapers. Rather a shame when you know that the Xbox Series X allows you to create your own personalized backgrounds…

The new Xbox interface highlights the wallpapers

But as can be seen on the screenshot provided by Microsoft, efforts have been made on the new interface to provide an unobstructed view of your favorite wallpaper. But that’s not all since this redesigned version of the HOME:

  • Makes it easier to navigate to your library, Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, search, and settings at the top of your homepage with the introduction of a new quick access menu
  • Adds functionality to quickly change the default background and display the wallpaper associated with each game by hovering the cursor over each tile
  • The “My Games & Apps” tile will show an icon when one of your titles has been updated or an action needs your attention

Of course, it is impossible to know for the moment when Microsoft intends to deploy this new interface to all Xbox Series users.
