They accuse AMD of paying so that games do not have DLSS

Both NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR are two different image upscaling technologies. In the background, both run the game at a lower resolution and scale it using AI.

For example, we want the game to run at 1440p with 120 FPS, but our graphics card hits 80 FPS. If we want these 40 FPS we activate a rescaling technology, which processes the game in 1080p resolution and then scales it to 1440p resolution. NVIDIA’s technology requires dedicated hardware and is “paid” and AMD’s does not require additional hardware and is free.

Is AMD paying to boycott its competitor?

It has caused quite a surprise that not starfield add medium from first moment to NVIDIA DLSS. We must bear in mind that it is the largest manufacturer on the market, with a 75% share on Steam. Of course, this has caused many to wonder why.

It seems that AMD this preventing to the developers with which it collaborates, that use the technology of rescaled his competitors. AMD has been asked about it, but the company has given vague and evasive answers. In addition, they highlight most of the games released had DLSS.

Due to controversies, AMD has had to come out to be clear about it. It has saying that Bethesda could add DLSS if he wanted, that it was not a technology banned in the sponsorship contract. At least, that’s what Frank Azor, AMD’s chief architect of gaming solutions said.

amd fsr technologyjohn linnemanSenior Writer at DigitalFoundry and Eurogamer has added fuel to the fire. It states that since AMD if they are forcing to studies to do not use DLSS. He says that three developers have already confirmed to him that they cannot support NVIDIA’s technology because of the sponsorship contract they had signed with AMD.

Although does not mention starfield, it stands to reason that it could be one of the three affected games. Also, Linneman says that they already commented on this in a DF Direct a few weeks ago. These programs have been reviewed by various users, but no one has found such a discussion.

In the face of all the controversy, Linneman has deleted the tweet and has published a clarified version. He points out that he is not referring to Starfield at any point. As is logical, some have taken the opportunity to speculate that Bethesda or AMD asked him to delete the message.

Just to re-iterate – if you see this post, it is NOT about Starfield at all. It is about other, unrelated games – we reported on this weeks ago. Some reddit people took this to mean Starfield but it is absolutely NOT related to Starfield. https://t.co/Zcdo4Vl72k

We’re still exaggerating a bit.

Nobody raised their hands to their heads when Cyberpunk 2077 or Death Stranding arrived with only support for NVIDIA DLSS. There are many games that only support this technology and other games that support both upscaling technologies.

It seems that AMD has improved their technology a lot and developers take it a lot into consideration. It is also easier to integrate into games, it does not mean paying royalties for its use or simply because they want to use it.

We must remember that NVIDIA launched G-Sync technology for monitors, which meant an additional cost of about 200 euros for monitors. Now all monitors support AMD FreeSync and some support G-Sync Compatible, which is NVIDIA’s technology that doesn’t require such dedicated hardware.
