This is the largest “laptop” in the world

One of the most important objectives that most laptop manufacturers have set for themselves is to maintain the weight and its measurements in very contained values, whenever this is possible, since in the end it will also depend on the components used and the power of the equipment. The more powerful it is, the bulkier it will be and the more space the cooling system will take up.

This race to reduce weight and dimensions is totally normal because, in the end, you are influence the user experience that will be offered. A very powerful but very heavy laptop will offer very specific value and will be a product limited to a specific user profile, while a more balanced solution will kill a broader spectrum of users.

Currently the largest laptops are in the range of 17-21 inches, but this does not mean that it is not possible to create larger laptops. It’s just not practical and it’s not cost-effective either. To demonstrate both extremes we have the world’s largest “laptop” to date, a computer that comes with a 43 inch screen mounted on a wooden chassis, and which is composed of an Intel NUC 11 and an integrated Redragon K605 mechanical keyboard.

It’s huge, and it’s also very heavy. We are talking about a team that has a weight of 45.3 kilograms, and therefore not very portable, although it is true that it maintains the basic design of this type of equipment and that it is possible to use it independently and without cables, thanks to its two integrated 167 Wh batteries each. To create some parts of this equipment they have resorted to 3D printing.

The creation and design process is priceless, and I am convinced that they could do business manufacturing this type of equipment as something exclusive and handmade, although perhaps in versions with a slightly less exaggerated size. They have no intention of marketing them, at least for now.
