If last week we echoed the launch of Vivaldi 5.7, a new version of the browser for PC with fewer new features -and less interesting- than we would like, according to what this project has accustomed us to, we can say that with the launch that concerns us now, that of the new version of Vivaldi for Android, have more than redeemed themselves.
According to the official announcement of Vivaldi 5.7 for AndroidIn fact, it brings more news than the desktop version, which is not usual; but it is that they are also much more attractive novelties no matter where you look at it (to be honest, Vivaldi for PC is full of features and it is not so easy to surprise us): improved performance, new customization functions… and the icing on the cake: the reproduction of multimedia content.
Simply put, Vivaldi for Android has added an option whose name and description says it all: «Allow background audio playback: With this option activated, the audio will continue to play in the background, when you change tabs in Vivaldi or even when you use other apps.» And although it does not mention it, you can add: “even if you turn off the screen of the device.”
At this point, two things can happen: one, that the mere news of reading something like this has excited you because of the possibilities it presents; another, that you are a premium user of YouTube, YouTube Music or other music services. I do not know if you understand me. If it is the first, you will find the option deactivated by default, so you are already going to the application settings to activate it (it is at the beginning, there is no loss).
If this novelty brought by Vivaldi for Android hasn’t interested you at all, good luck to you. But there is more: another new option, in this case for block autoplay videos and save you the hassle that this entails; and an improvement in performance that affects the faster boot of the browser “even with hundreds of tabs”, just in case that is your case, worth the redundancy.
Another novelty that Vivaldi for Android launches and that users of Chromebooks, tablets and even car screens will like is a new zoom control with which to change the size of the interface of the browser to best adapt to the device. This option is available in the accessibility section of the configuration.
Finally, Vivaldi 5.7 for Android has “added reminders to turn on Sync if you haven’t already.” This, as you can imagine, is the browser’s data synchronization system, with which you can enjoy your bookmarks, history, passwords and more on all your devices, encrypted using.
