Netflix repeats strategy with Stranger Things
We all knew since November of last year that the fourth season of stranger things It would arrive in 2022, but there was still no official confirmation, nor a visible plan on the part of the platform itself of how we could get to see it… until now. From Netflix they have advanced how the premiere of this new season and have decided to adopt a system that will be familiar to you, especially if you have seen The Money Heist or, in a more recent case, Ozarks.
What do these fictions have in common with stranger things? Well, Netflix has decided to split the premiere of the new season in two, creating two parts that will arrive over just three months. So, the fans who are anxiously awaiting the outcome of the events of Hawkins, or wherever it takes place now, you can see the first batch of chapters from May 27 while the second, the definitive one that will close the circle, will not do so until July 7 (yes, San Fermín).
The reason for making this decision is, according to the platform, that it is a longer season than usual (and expensive with two full years of filming and production) so they have preferred to dose it, although the real reason surely we have to look elsewhere. For example, in a simple need to recover the largest investment made and force users who activate and deactivate their subscriptions as they consume content, to have to keep it for two months to see the full season of stranger things instead of just one.
What awaits us in Stranger Things 4?
If you haven’t finished watching the third season of stranger things, then do not continue, because we are going to tell you some important things (SPOILER). And the first one is that it seems that we will have several relevant scenarios at the same time, so at least it can be deduced from the series’ own poster art.
And of all the theories, Russia’s is the one that has all the ballots to appear on the screen. Why? Okay, Jim Hopper did not end very well in the last chapters and everything indicates that he is not dead, but imprisoned in some kind of Russian gulag in a research center where, on their own, they have experimented with technologies similar to those of the Hawkins National Laboratory (hence that strange Demogorgon that appears at the end of the third season).
That part is surely the most important along with the almost confirmed possibility that the action and, perhaps the strange phenomena? travel beyond hawkins to follow the characters who have somehow tried to flee from the threats that lie in wait for them in their old home.
New characters and guest appearances
As is customary in stranger things we will have new faces in the fourth season. One of them will be Myles Truitt’s (Black Mafia Family) who will play the role of Patrick, a basketball player from Hawkins, very popular and that he will have to face those strange things that are happening in the town and that change one’s life.
For its part, Joel Stoffer (Agents of SHIELD) will also join the cast of the fourth season in a role that is yet to be confirmed and, finally, Amybeth McNulty (Anne with an E) will be Vickie in fiction, a geek girl who will serve as a hook to distract (sentimentally) one of the protagonists of stranger things.
The Duffer brothers, by the way, have already announced that not only the cast of actors is going to be expanded as they are going to introduce the occasional special appearance. And one of them will be, according to his words “very special”, with a role that absolutely nothing has transpired: «we have a couple of special cameos this year. It’s a really fun way to meet one of your idols. You know, you write a paper for them and ask them if they want to do it.”
there will be more seasons
This fourth season will not be the last and, for now, Everything indicates that the story of the Hawkins kids will continue to give war on Netflix. This has already been communicated from the production company itself, where they warn that there will be a fifth season, something that fits with the statements that the Duffer brothers themselves have been making in recent times and in which it was already contemplated that the series would have rope for a while. We don’t know if the gum is being stretched beyond what is reasonable, but right now the fans don’t care.
Matt and Ross Duffer have stated about this fourth season that “after nine scripts, more than eight hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots and a duration twice as long as any of the previous seasons, stranger things 4 has been the hardest we’ve ever done, but also the most rewarding.” So we can look forward to an even bigger show that, at this point in history, we no longer know what new threats could lie in wait for the kids in the series. Does something happen to you?
