will arrive sooner than expected

In recent months, there has been a lot of news, well, more like rumors, circulating about what features Windows 12, the next version of Microsoft’s operating system, will bring. In SoftZone we have published various concept videos with some of the improvements that could come with the next version of Windows, however, they are just that, concepts that never have to become a reality, although many of them are expected improvements that they got lost on the way during the transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11. Regarding the release date, it is a mystery.

It is a mystery that little by little is becoming clearer. If we take into account that 6 years passed between Windows 10 and Windows 11 (2015-2021), in theory, Windows 12 should arrive in 2027. However, the latest clues suggest that it could be sooner than expected. This date could be brought forward if we take into account previous rumors that Microsoft has changed the Windows update cycle to be every 3 years instead of the current 6.

Possible release of Windows 12

Microsoft has just released a new version of Windows 11 within the Insider program, with build number 25276 with some new features that will arrive in future Windows updates. In addition, a novelty that is not mentioned in the details of this new version is found in the Microsoft technical support diagnostic tool as the developer has been able to discover Raphael Rivera.

When opening this Windows tool, used in the past to execute code remotely by hackers, a notice is displayed at the bottom informing us that this will cease to be available in 2025that is, within two years, a date that is halfway between the supposed release dates.

Possible release Windows 12

What we expect from Windows 12

Regardless of whether Microsoft has reduced or maintained the Windows update cycle, what we can take for granted is that the requirements to be able to update the computer to this next version of Microsoft’s operating system are that they will be the same. That is, a computer with a 64-bit processor, 4 GB of RAM, TPM 2.0 and support for secure boot will be necessary.

Regarding the new features, we know very little about them, since there is still 1 year left, at the earliest, for their release at best. But, if we pay attention to the rumors, some suggest that the taskbar it could receive a new design, and would let it be pinned to the bottom of the screen.

Other rumors suggest that Microsoft could add animated wallpapers that automatically change the appearance depending on the time of day in which we are, a function similar to the one that Apple offers in its operating system for desktop computers. Further integration between Windows and Android mobile devices natively without having to rely on the Your Phone app is also expected.

Windows 12 will not be the revolution that came with Windows 11, but it will be an update of much less depth than the one that Windows 11 has brought about, since its minimum requirements have left out a large number of computers that worked without problems with Windows 10.
