New games in May 2022 on Xbox Game Pass

Once again, Microsoft is giving pride of place to independent productions with promising titles like Loot River or Trek to Yomi. But before going into detail, here is the exhaustive list of games coming to Xbox Game Pass:

  • Loot River (Cloud, Console & PC) – Available
  • Trek to Yomi (Cloud, Console & PC) – May 5
  • Citizen Sleeper (Cloud, Console & PC) – May 5
  • Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition (Cloud, Console & PC) – May 10
  • Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising (Cloud, Console & PC) – May 10
  • This War of Mine: Final Cut (Cloud, Console & PC) – May 10
  • NHL 22 (Console) via EA Play – May 12

So we start with Loot River, a rogue-like with a rather innovative formula. Like many titles in the genre, you will have to explore hostile randomly generated dungeons, kill formidable enemies to improve your abilities… and die in a loop due to a twisted difficulty. However, the novelty lies in the movements. Indeed, your character has the ability to move the blocks on which he moves. The game is therefore akin to an ingenious mix between Dead Cells and Tetris. Original no?

We continue with Trek to Yomi, an action-adventure game designed as a true homage to Akira Kurosawa’s samurai films, led by the Seven Samurai. Entirely in black and white and developed by one person, Trek to Yomi invites you to witness Hiroki’s fall against the forces of evil and his return to honor his promise: to save and protect the people of his village.

As for This War of Mine, this cult game returns in a remastered version with improved graphics and shortened loading times, while all the DLCs released to date are included. This title, which puts you in the shoes of a civilian in times of war, particularly resonates today, as the conflict rages in Ukraine.
