AIRMini Wireless: the wireless external SSD with 10 hours of battery

Surely on many occasions you have had to plug your smartphone into your PC or laptop to empty its storage due to the amount of files, photos and videos you had. This is not that it is a complicated task, far from it, but it requires that you have one of these two devices next to you, nearby and logically it can be a problem in certain situations. That is going to end AIRmini Wirelessan external SSD where you can download all those files at any time.

The concept of this device is more than simple: wherever you are, you can download and access your data at breakneck speed and with up to 10 hours of battery life without carrying anything heavy or taking up a lot of space. Simple and at the same time tremendously difficult to develop, hence the merit of this device.

AIRmini, the speed of Thunderbolt and Wi-Fi 6

Something tremendously fast and portable is useless to us if we don’t have enough battery to do everything we need in a reasonable time. Well, this external SSD guarantees us 10 hours of operation with an important premise once said autonomy is finished: it will be 100% ready again in just one hour.

How? It’s a great question, but everything seems to revolve around efficiency. In this section we have to emphasize your Thunderbolt and Wi-Fi controller, where in the first and as specified it will include a controller Intel JHL7440 (Titan Ridge) listed as version 3.0 of the interface using a USB-C connector.

This provides blazing speed for an external device, as this AIRmini is capable of reaching up to 2,200MB/s (sequential read and write) under said Thunderbolt 3.0 interface, not bad for an external SSD. As for the Wi-Fi 6 section, which is really the novelty as such, we will have a maximum speed of 900MB/s thanks to a wireless modem Broadcom BCM4389 which will transfer the files and data with Wi-Fi 6.

The best thing about all this is that said Wi-Fi modem allows up to 12 devices at the same time via WLAN, so it is a great advantage to take into account if what we want is to send information from several mobile phones, laptops or PCs.

High capacity and IP67 protection

It is not submersible, but instead what we have is a great protection against dust and water by means of a IP67 certified, so in case of a problem or error on our part with the liquid element, our data will be protected. Capacities are between 1TB and 4TBwhich is quite surprising if we take into account its measurements and what was explained above regarding its hardware: 112 x 38 x 9.5mm for alone 168 grams.

There are not many external NVMe SSDs that can say the same, practically none if we talk about Wi-Fi 6. It is compatible with both Android and iOS, in which we will have a data backup with just one button where said files will be encrypted with 256-bit AES encryption.

We will be able to get it, for the moment, only through Indiegogo, where its delivery date is apparently scheduled for April of this year at prices of $259, $399, and $799 for 1TB, 2TB and 4TB respectively. As always when we write about a campaign on this platform, we must bear in mind that AIRmini, like others, are projects that may or may not come to fruition. There are certain risks that we must be clear about, because we, the users, are the ones who finance this project and it is currently in the prototype phase.
