Apple has an invisible system to verify their authenticity

There is an invisible new feature in the iPhone 15. Or rather on their box. By using a UV lamp, it is possible to reveal two watermarks which attest that it is not a counterfeit. Well, its packaging anyway.

As soon as a new high-end smartphone comes out, a parallel market is set up. That of counterfeits. At this level, Apple is particularly affected. The iPhone 15s available since today are unfortunately no exception to the rule and we expect to see more or less well-made copies land on online sales sites. The phenomenon is a reality. Last April, a family was fined $51 million for selling fake iPhones for years.

Even the brand can despite itself become complicit in the system. A man sent fake iPhones to Apple for 3 years to redeem the warranty and receive real ones as replacements. He then sold them without fear. This means that the company has every interest in finding ways to fight against copies of your smartphones. With its latest range, it has added a system that you will not see, unless you use an Ultraviolet lamp.

iPhone 15 boxes have two watermarks invisible to the naked eye

In a video published on X (Twitter)the famous leaker Majin Bu shows that by passing a UV lamp on the back of the box, on the right corners, we can see two small watermarks. Surely to prevent scammers from just trying to reproduce them, one of them is a QR Code. Since it is only present on the packaging, it is assumed that it is associated with the iPhone 15 which is inside. Otherwise it would be possible to sell a fake mobile in a real box.

At the buyer’s level, it is also possible to check if the serial number on the box is the same as that of the device inside. These recommendations mainly concern the second-hand resale or reconditioned products. If you manage to get your hands on an iPhone 15 in an Apple Store despite the strike, there will be no problem.
