ASUS PL64, mini PCs reinforced with passive cooling

The Taiwanese company has presented the ASUS PL64, a new family of compact mini PCs that have a very small size, a reinforced design and a passive cooling system, which makes them an interesting option for industrial environmentsand also for workspaces where working conditions are complicated (dusty areasfor example).

ASUS PL64s are available with Intel Alder Lake U-series processors, known for being low-power solutions that still offer a good level of performance. In their most basic configuration, these teams integrate a Celeron 7305, but they can mount a powerful Intel Core i5-1235U.

As we anticipated, they are very compact in size, as they measure 199.7mm x 119.7mm x 33.99mm. Its chassis is part of the passive cooling system, as it helps to dissipate heat and prevent it from accumulating in the CPU. On the front it has a 3.5 mm jack for headphones and microphone, three USB 3.2 Gen1 connectors, two communication ports and the power button.

On the back we see three HDMI 2.0 outputs, two connectors for antennas that will allow us to extend the range of its wireless connectivity (supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5), one Gigabit Ethernet LAN port and one 2.5G Ethernet port. This computer supports up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory, uses high-performance PCIe SSD drives, and is MIL-STD-810H military-grade ruggedness certified, which means it has a high degree of resistance to harsh environments.

ASUS PL64s have room to mount two SSD drives in M.2 format, so storage capacity will not be a problem, even in the long term. They have a 4 year warranty. We don’t have any details on its price, but we imagine that in its basic configuration it will be quite cheap.
