AWS announces AppFabric, a service to make it easy to connect and manage SaaS applications

AWS has announced the launch of its new no-code service AppFabricdesigned to facilitate the connection of the different SaaS apps used by companiess. Already available in several regions, AppFabric can offer, according to its creators, a package of security and management functions that is supported in part by Artificial Intelligence.

From your AWS console. Company customers using AppFabric will be able to integrate their third-party work apps, such as Asana, Slack, Zoom, or Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace tools. All with the aim of achieving a single view of their performance and use. But also with security apps, such as Splunk or Netskope.

Once connected, AppFabric provides standardized data and workflows across apps, aggregating and normalizing data using the AWS Open Cybersecurity Schema framework. Thus, they can be used in different situations, such as the search for patterns or security threats. In addition, AppFabric can be used to establish common policies between applications, in addition to monitoring them for unusual activity and being able to notify the appropriate personnel in case of detection of unusual behavior.

This service, however, is not yet complete, and AWS expects to increase its functions and capabilities over the coming months. Among these will be an AI assistant powered by large language models, which is being developed internally at AWS, as part of the Amazon Bedrock generative AI platform.

This assistant will be able to perform tasks such as locating information, developing to-do lists, or creating content based on contextualized sources from various SaaS apps. Apart from using large language models for this, as we have mentioned, it will also use content from various software-as-a-service applications.

The regions where AWS AppFabric is available today are US East (North Virginia), Europe (Ireland), and Asia-Pacific (Tokyo). It is likely that over the next few weeks and months it will spread to other regions, since the company has indicated that its availability will be expanded soon.
